    Put them on your garage and house and then call your car solar powered. That actually works. Now. and getting better!

    Physics usually wins. Just ask Toyota about hydrogen for your car...

    No, I would assume that a Leaf would be able to charge at a Chademo station without requiring an optional upgrade to the car. Whether the Chademo station requires payment for the charge in another matter entirely.

    You would be disappointed then as the base Leaf does require the quick charge option. Then, after that you need to pay for the charge as well.

    Yes. Unlimited 30-minute DC fast charges for the first 2 years at various locations which will charge to 80% during that interval:

    No, level-2 charging is also covered. See link above. Unlimited 60-minute Level 2 charges for first 24 months as well.

    I have not read all of the post on this thread, but I have not yet read a compelling reason "not to buy a Tesla 3."

    there are a lot of compelling reasons, but one size doesn't fit all. range anxiety, price, availability, etc.
    you must have your own reasons, unless you already own one.:p

    I was recently told (on another thread) that the new Prius was not targeted at my market. Really? That is an interesting thought. I had thought that my criteria was pretty much right down the center of what most people want in an automobile.
    As for the Tesla 3 .... I think it is too early to boldly state "Why I Won't Buy A Tesla 3."

    Finally, I read everything I can find on all the cars on my short list, and I am still undecided. (None are currently on the market yet is a factor)

    I can boldly state "Why I Won't Buy A Tesla 3." I'm broke. If someone setup a gofundme page for me, then I wouldn't have a reason why I won't buy a model 3.

    That's also why Arkansas is one of the last/slowest states to develope the supercharger network .... higher poverty levels mean fewer buyers.

    In order to get a fast DC charge from a Chademo charger, a Leaf needs the Quick charge port. It is optional on the base trim. In fact, the 6.6kWh charger is optional; 3.6kWh is the standard equipped charger.

    Nissan hasn't really done a great job of advertising this. Perhaps it is because I am not in one of the select cities or markets. No, wait, it became available in Philly in January. Still ends on 7/7/2019 for us with the other 16 states.

    Still better than nothing. A Leaf is more likely to need a charge away from home than a Tesla in everyday driving.;)
    Better opt for the 6.6kWh charger then. You don't want to pay for going over the 2 hours.

    Kidding aside, the No Charge to Charge is a nice little incentive for buying a Leaf. Since it wasn't available since the Leaf's introduction, and is only in limited markets for a little time, it is probable a safe assumption that most people looking at the car would not assume they get free charging with, Like most don't assume to get free gasoline with an ICE one.

    That used to be the case, but the 6.6kWh charger has been standard on 2 of the 3 trim levels that come with a DC fast charger since at least the 2014 model years. Don't think the 3.6kWh charger has been available for a while.

    Yeah, only saw a few commercials for this in my area. But it is available around most major metropolitan areas. I'm not even in Sacramento which is the closest listed and there are plenty of these stations all throughout the state and in my area.

    We signed up for the free charging, but still have never used it. Until a BEV can do 200-300 + miles EV, much easier to take the plug-in Prius for long trips without too much environmental guilt.

    Will be interesting to see if Nissan renews or extends the program when Leaf 2.0 comes out with its 60 kWh battery when fast charging will be more useful. There is a cost to these things. To this point, Tesla owners paid for the privilege up front.

    that's a very good point, and how most americans see bev's. i'll buy one, when it fits my everyday driving, but i have no plans for recharging on the road at this point.

    I had just checked the Leaf specs on the Nissan site before posting that. The 3.6kWh is the standard charger on the base trim. Most are likely shipped with the 6.6kWh one, but this side discussion started over the standard equipped chargers on the Model 3.
    That is a perk of being in California. I know there are some around Philly, but the only charger I've seen was for a smart ED the local Dominos had for deliveries. It was taken out when ownership changed.

    I'm sure the Leaf owners paid to some degree also, but it will be nice if Nissan continues it.

    And many of the people that could use a BEV like that, the cars would still have a nice positive impact.
