Annoying back up beep

You need to search this subject before posting. But you have a couple choices. Take it to your dealer and ask them to change it to a single beep. Ask them to do it for free. Some will, some will want to charge. Take it to another dealer if yours has no clue of how to do it.

Yep, try a different dealer.

I'm going to get that taken care of some day. I live an hour and a half away from my dealer and it's pretty inconvenient to just drop by to have this done. I really hate the incessant beeping and it was a condition of my purchase.... but they didn't get the car in until late in the day and the service department was closed when I picked the car up.

 

When the dealer removed the beeping is it gone completely? I would assume they'd make it beep once so you know reverse is engaged.
Just curious; Was it free? Glad to know dealership can do this .

 

Beeps once. I think - never notice it any more.

I'm past beeping - my fridge, my microwave, my washing machine, my car beeps at all odd times, then the microwave beeps again reminding me that I still haven't taken the food out which, according to the recipe needs to stand for 2 minutes before serving. My phone beeps when I press any button. My Smartphone beeps when I plug it in or unplug it.

Beep, Beeeep, Beeeeeeep. GRRRRR!!!

 

You can actually disable it yourself with a Bluetooth OBDII

Can anyone with Carista hook this up? I like that its stated above as free.99 vs having to pay for this. Unless someone has Carista that can do this for me. That'd be cool .

It beeps ONCE then its silent. I had ours changed last week during our 10K service. The dealer did it for free...

 

Let's be thankful they didn't put the beeping on the outside of the car. We would all sound like a bunch of trash trucks backing up.

Mind over matter, I guess. I've managed to tune it out. I back into my driveway every day and don't even notice it anymore.

 

TBH I'd gotten used to it and it didn't bother me in the Gen 3 and the Prius+ but in the Gen 4 there's all this other beeping going off from the proximity sensors (narrow driveway), cross traffic alert etc. so I decided to turn it off so I know if something beeps, it's not an unnecessary beep and actually a relevant warning.

 

Get a Carista adapter. Those things can change a lot of features on the car and can also read engine codes. I changed the reverse beeping so it beeps once. Also when I hold the lock button on the remote, all the windows go down and the moonroof opens; all when the car's off and locked. You get used to the annoying beeping after a while though.

 

Picked my Prius from the dealership yesterday, I was going to get Carista to sort out the reverse beep but we decided that we would see how much it annoys us. Upon the first time of putting it in reverse all we got was one beep and nothing else. Not sure if it's a case that it's got back to Toyota how annoying the continues beep is and they changed it or if the dealer has just done it. Either way that's one less thing for me to do.
