I found the setting for "long press" of the unlock button rolls down all 4 windows. They dont' roll back up - but I always like to air the car out before getting in it.....now I can roll the windows down from my office window and while walking to the car close enough to used the remote. Very cool. Any other I need to know about? Changed the lane change to 7 blinks, reverse beep to 1, seat belt reminder to off, all doors unlock with one click and door lock on DRIVE. What else?
That sounds really odd - my 2007/8 Ford Focus did both up and down, as have VWs and other brands for at least a decade. Maybe there is a separate setting for going up?
I read on PriusChat somewhere that in USA it's programmed to only open the windows - whereas overseas it is up as well. I tried finding the post, but can't. I remember the comment "blame the lawyers" for the USA to have this restriction - whatever that meant?
I have not tried this (in the USA - or anywhere else for that matter) - but I do have this listed as a program option: Close windows and sunroof by holding key in door lock ON / *OFF* Update: Oh, I stand corrected, that's by using the key... not the remote button function.
Pleased to report that I tried the Docooler Wifi model on my Gen4 2016 Prius JDM version and it works with Carista ios. I couldn't get the veepak model as recommended here as Amazon doesn't ship that to Singapore so took a chance with whatever cheap one I could find. I was able to customize reverse beep, windows remote among other things. thumbs up. Also note there are some differences between the JDM and USA customization options. Key for me is the JDM prius allows windows UP on remote long press which others have noted USA probably doesnt have due to litigous reasons. I can control my windows while parked at work to keep the HV battery cool in the scorching sun or when it thunderstorms. big phew!
I can confirm the Veepeak works on Gen4 Touring, Carista and iPhone 6 Plus. Plugged it in, upgraded the app and set my reverse to 1 beep and lane change to 5 blinks all in less than 10 minutes. Thx for the recommendation.
That's a very simplistic reader, no. You need a model that interfaces with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi to be able to use it with an app on your phone like Carista. Many Bluetooth models will not work with iOS because they are likely not version 4.0 LE (low energy) compliant. The Carista branded adapter is available on Amazon for about $32 last I checked. If you're not sure what to buy, just get that one. App purchase is separate.
Mini OBD2 ELM327 V1.5 Bluetooth Car Scanner Android Torque Auto Scan Tool OBD-II i got 1 of these of ebay... all works with carista.. done my seat belt beeps tonight.. cost me £3.99 arr on android though..
I can second this. If ordering from Amazon make sure you get the Bluetooth version for 12.99 and not the Wi-Fi for 17.99.
When using a wifi OBDII adapter like the Veepeak on an iPhone do you need to set the IP address manually with the Carista app?
From what I've been told, the function has been discontinued ostensibly due to the risk of kids/objects getting accidentally caught in closing windows. So the lawyers being manufacturers who don't want to get sued over a dismemberment or decapitation :/
