That's because everything is plastic. :) Try turning the rubber bumpers in the box itself. Some people have said that it changes the dynamic and reduces the noise... be advised, this could go the opposite as well at which point you would just need to spin them again.

How do I tell if my car was built on line #1 or #2?

My car is s VIN is ...C150xxxx, so it is below the VIN for Iwate #2.

    Thanks.

My 2012 was manufactured in 9/2012 and it is well after the Iwate #2 VIN.

I updated my box and it still makes sounds over rough roads. sigh. I don't know if they did a good job installing it or what. I actually have to press my hand on the glove box and it stops making any kind of sounds.

I just placed 4 small round strips of one sided foam near the glove box latches and on top portion of dash. That has stopped 99% of the rattles

Has anyone else change the box and still had the rattle or did it go away?

Well that's great, I just randomly stumbled upon this, only to discover I was under warranty at the time when this TSB came out, but never received it (my number is about 2000 less than the C1516938 limit, never received this in the mail or was told about it at the dealership). I do have the 125k platinum VSP extended warranty, would it be worth it to contact Toyota to see if the extended warranty would cover me?

Taking my 2015 Prius C One into the shop this upcoming week because of a loud squeaking from the glove box proper. I changed the cabin filter a couple of months back and then picked up the noise.

A service Toyota mechanic rode with me and said there was something wrong internally with the glove box, i.e. plastic structural problem or something "not right"....

The dealership has scheduled a complete box replacement.

I spoke with the service advisor when I was in for my other Prius, and he showed me that the computer didn't reveal any TSBs available on my Prius C, even though my VIN falls into the category of this TSB. Oh well.

I'll do that when I get a chance. The service rep didn't seem to be trying to pull a fast one on me or anything. He showed me on his computer where it shows the available TSBs and recalls based on my VIN number, and it didn't come up. He did tell me that unlike recalls, they don't mention TSBs unless a complaint is made by the customer. I don't know enough about TSBs vs recalls to know if this is true or not.

That is true. That's how I got mine fixed there was a TSB I complained it was fixed. Of course they had to order it in.

Dealership put in another glove box, but did not solve the problem, still plastic vibrating against each other somewhere. They tried sanding/drilling/trimming... and put in some padding... it is 90% less noise.... I can live with that....

Hate to resurrect a 6 month old thread - BUT - I have a 2016 Prius C3 with 1,000 miles on it and there is an annoying squeak over mild to hard bumps. Living in Ohio that's every 10 feet. The noise subsides with the glove box door hanging open. I'll be visiting the dealer tomorrow to discuss. Wish me luck.

This is how I corrected the annoying squeaks emanating from my glove box door.
I bought a tube of silicone grease (paste like consistency) and lubed all the contact points around the glove box, especially the latching area.
All of the squeaks are gone and have not returned.
It took me two annoying years to figure this solution out.
    Merry Christmas!

It's plastic on plastic, it will rattle some. I've noticed this but after inspection there's really not much you can do. I'd suggest putting some soft surface piece (felt pad maybe?) where the glove box tabs touch. Otherwise, I'd say crank the volume up a little bit more

Get some weatherstriping material that is usually used on the front door of a house. It has solved the problem for me.
