Guys, I'm at 399,407 and not traveling as much as I used to....BUT I will be hitting this mark very soon unless some poor excuse of a driver crashes into me. And if that were to happen I feel sorry for that other driver lol!!! Original gas engine, CVT and hybrid battery!! On my 3rd 12 volt battery. Had the inverter pump replaced under recall and also the combo meter reset when I got to 299,999. Really the best car I've ever owned hands down!! Owned this baby since new 10/27/2005... Regards, Joe
yes I do have to keep tabs on the oil, I'm going to get a new PCV valve in and see if that helps any. Also went from 5W30 to 10W30 but didn't make much difference... It still gets pretty good mpg, just depends on speed, terrain and wind/weather. Oh also did have to put a new cat converter and shocks within the last year.....many sets of tires haha!!!!
Amazed at 400K, congratulations! I sold my 2005 with 129,900 miles less than a year ago. Would not have hesitated to drive cross country in that car. Did not burn any oil! Possibly the best vehicle I have ever owned! Certainly the least cost to own. At one time I owned the infamous 1982 Mercedes Benz 240D. Vehicle was at 330,000 miles when the odometer stop working. Mileage who knows? The end came when one of the cylinders cracked one winter and was quoted $5,000 to repair.
Among others, I once owned 190D, 240D, 300D, and 300SD. Other Mercedes Benz' 190E 2.6, 500SEL, 560SEL and one of my favorites 560SL. Most favorites vehicles 240D, 560SEL, 560SL and 2005 Toyota Prius. 560 SEL and 560SL needed tanker trucks following to refuel! LOL
guys and gals it's official!! Past the 400,000 mile mark today...Now this will be a little math test for ya, hint...don't use the new math to try and compute this one lol....!!!
There were a number of early Gen 2s with odometers that would not go past 300,000. Toyota didn't cover them under warranty IIRC. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
All 2004 and 2005 Prii will not go past 299,999 on the odometer. 2001-2003 will roll over, and 2006-2018 will roll over as well. Super odd of Toyota.
Turning over 400K in a little less than a 100 miles. 2013 Prius V. Previous owner was a rural mail carrier. Runs like a champ. Maintains oil level. Strong EV battery.
Its not so much about how many miles you rack up, its more to do with the age of the battery. The battery should last you at least up to 10 years or so. The downside is, the car is put out of warranty with that many miles racked up in a short amount of time. 8 year warranty or first 100k miles, which ever comes first. CARB states like CA, 10 year warranty or first 150k, which ever comes first. How, ever those are easy highway miles, so its very little wear on the car that only makes up 10% of the wear and tear vs city miles. Highway miles are light on the battery pack too, very little stress. I drive on the highway a lot myself. City stop and go takes a beating on a car.
I did not realize you could reset the ODO when you hit 299,999. Toyota techs never mentioned that as an option. Hit 401,200 already on my 2005 Prius. I'm just keeping track using Trip B between oil changes. Annoying, but I just do it. Wonder if they will agree to do it now.
It is not an official Toyota option, so that is why a Toyota tech will not have mentioned it. Contact Matt @Texas Hybrid Batteries if you’re interested in an ODO that goes past 299,999. He will give you all the details. Essentially what he can supply you with is a modified 2006-2009 light cluster and combination meter programmed with your mileage. His price is reasonable too.
