• Gen-4 Prius and RAV-4 hybrid - going strong
• Sonata hybrid - were sales impacted by a too early, IONIQ campaign?
• Everyone else is muddling along

I don't know. We are seeing early lease vehicles in eBay so perhaps these are new leases replacing the ones that were held before:

1. lease - $4k down, $250/mo., buy-out price $28,000 (*)
   
2. purchase $28,000 - $500/mo. for 60 months (*)

In effect, leasing a new, BMW i3 appears to be cheaper than buying a used one ... unless you want to do something with it or the competition is a Gen-4, Level 3 + TSS-P.

Found an alternate explanation for the Subaru problem:

...
Subaru hopes to lift its supplies of new vehicles later this year by reclaiming capacity at an Indiana factory now shared with Toyota.​

We've seen similar sales dips after Japanese earthquakes and supply chain problems.

In the efficient car market:

Model – May, April, March, February
2016 Prius – 9389, 8923, 8130, 7169
RAV4 hybrid – 4185, 3807, 3073, 2462

The rest were flat-lined. The 2016 Prius would have had one more sale but the Level 2 ECO does not offer the TSS-P, safety system and the Level 3 with TSS-P has a moon roof instead of MPG.

For the same money, I bought a used, 2014 BMW i3-REx, loaded with their TSS-P equivalent that came off lease with 6440 miles and 2.5 years of warranty remaining. My ‘test’ drive home was 463 miles at 42 MPG via the I40 pass through the Smoky Mountains. First week added over 500 miles in EV with half from free public chargers.

Cheap gas has made this time a buyer’s market for good hybrids. ​

For looking at the Gen-3 and Gen-4 Prius, this is a good source. It does show the steady growth this year but compared to last year, not setting any sales records. However, I still like the Jeff Cobb's survey of all hybrids, EVs, and diesels, the 'horse race.'
