2016 FOUR Touring, PCP or Not? Help Me Decide

So I need to be more careful on these tests. Fell off the ladder with a chain saw yesterday. Scared me to death. At 122 I got to be careful.

BTW/never did PCP in college. Nasty stuff.

 

So two operational test data points yesterday.

1. Young lady walked behind my Prius at the commissary while backing up. No auto brakes and no audible sound. Applied the brakes manually. Not good at all. Always look through the mirrors as I do not trust all this stuff.

2. Backing up at Wal-Mart and a car two spots away was pulling into a slot. System gave me a audible and visual warning.

 

Funny, as I was also using a chainsaw yesterday to cut a dead tree. Brutal if mistakes are made.

 

When I purchased my Prius I thought about upgrading by adding a package. But I realized that Navigation is all better on my Turn off signatures in Tapatalk the Waze App. All of my consumable media comes from my phone. With spotify, soundcloud, pandora, iTunes i'm pretty much covered. In terms of burning a Cd or just placing the media on a usb stick all I would need to do is plug and play with it'll read most media formats. And a cd well is just a cd most new players will read most commonly used formats.

I find that sonar parking or back up cameras or systems can be useful at certain angles but you can't beat the good ole' neck turn and eyes. I don't think the entune audio is really worth the increase in cost. Also 6 speakers work fine for me i also play bass heavy music do I really need 10? ..........Meh.

Does resale value factor in yeah maybe? But a pair of rims, some aero splitters, a good phone holder and your good to go.

So do I think the add on's on are worth it????

Not really the value is in the base model same engine and basic suspension set up.

except the battery nickel vs lithium. nickel is fine with me a little more robust.

I think PDS is only out front because it uses that front mounted camera to function.

Well, there is cross traffic alert, just don't think it will work for pedestrians but perhaps I'm incorrect on that. I do know it works very well as I accidentally tested it first hand on my second test drive. I was backing out of a space at the dealership when another car came flying down the isle. The alert definitely got my attention and I don't know if the car would have stopped itself because I hit the brakes hard. I am fairly certain that I would have collided with the other car had it not been for that alert. I believe that the wide C pillar may have also contributed to this near miss. I was a little embarrassed as of course the salesman was seated right beside me, but learned a valuable lesson. J

Never mind. Says Pedestrian Detection on the sticker but not PDS.

Pulled into the garage and it gave me a warning that I was about to hit my light on a pole proximity warning device . Tried to pull up closer and it would not let me. Turned car off and back on and was able to get closer. I'm so ashamed that I used the AC for my wife today. She won't ride without it/lol
