Hello! Well I was driving my 2005 Prius with 152k miles today, when I get 4 lights including the CEL and red triangle. I was able to scan with with the Torque program and got a code of P0A80 with no other codes. But I do have Techstream, and I'll be scanning with that in a few minutes. What exactly does the P0A80 mean? Should I start looking at replacing the hybrid battery?
Well looks like I also have a code P3000-123 aside from P0A80. I've attached the screenshots from Techstream. What am I looking at here?
There is a good chance that one of the two modules in block 8 has a dead cell in it. It's not a sure thing only because the overall state of charge of the entire battery is only 29.5% which is much lower than it should be.
Block 8 was my suspicion as well. How familiar you are with this type of work, how much time you have, and how willing you are to troubleshoot (play whack-a-mole) will determine your best course of action moving forward (not to mention budget).
First off credit to the OP for posting your issue with your codes retrieved from a creditable device! P0A80 is the terminal code for your HV battery. As time goes on I would expect to see d more of this code as the HV batteries are nearing the end of their design life span. Your options as I see them are the whack-a-mole approach and change only the cell(s) that have failed, purchase a rebuilt battery, purchase a used battery or purchase a new battery from Toyota. All of these options are a function of time, money and mechanical abilities.
