Mobil 1 oil rebates: 5 quart jugs from $15

    Just thought I'd let everyone know about this deal on oil, for those who do their own oil changes, since this is the cheapest I've seen 0w20 synthetic oil. They had the same rebate at the end of 2014, and I stocked up on 5 jugs of it for my Prius c, plus some more for my SO's car. It looks like Walmart sells conventional Quaker State 0w20 now for about $14.50 also, so at the very least, you're getting a free upgrade to full synthetic.

    Mobil 1 has a rebate for $12 off 5 quarts, which makes it $14.68+tax. You can use a cashback site for up to 5% off if you order from Walmart online for store pickup. Advance Auto Parts and Autozone have in-store deals involving Mobil 1 oil filters, which also qualify for the rebate.

    The OP has more details at his referenced link. However I will distill this for non-diy owners and say it's good till the end of May with the rebate submitted by the end of June. If you are not a do it yourselfer, you can get selected oil change places to do their normal change and then submit the rebate form online (link copied below). However you get a $15 service coupon in that case for use at the same oil change place before the end of Nov 2015. The rebate is coming from ExxonMobil.

    Based on the previous deal and my experience, Walmart will qualify. Many people bought from Walmart and it worked out - people called the listed phone number and confirmed Walmart is ok.

    I bought 14 5-quart jugs from Walmart and sent each of the 7 rebates to an address I had access to: my house, parents, grandparents, work, SO's work, SO's parents, SO's grandparents. I used my name/email/phone for half, and SO's for the others. The rebates took about 3 months (everyone's did) but I eventually got them. There's an online rebate checker tool, too. Even if you get 2 rebates, that's still 20 quarts, which is enough for 4-5 oil changes.

    That doesn't guarantee Walmart will qualify this time, though. I'm sure someone in the slickdeals thread has already called to ask, but you can call 1-866-895-9127 to confirm.

    So far as I can tell, Mobil 1 0W-20 Fuel Economy passes Dexos1 and ACEA-A1.
    Seems like a good combination based on this Lubrizol spider chart:

    the current M1 price is $26.88 at walmart.
    i'm hearing it can go down from time to time. I'll wait.

    Link says walwart is a participating vendor so rebate applies to their pricing too!

    I bought my two jug limit last weekend and have all ready mailed off the form. I read on another forum that someone was able to submit a walmart receipt electronically (didn't know that option was possible) and it went through. FWIW

    Last time I checked, you can get the Mobil-1 filters on-line at Walmart. So I might get the filter and oil on-line for store pick-up, assuming Walmart qualifies. I like the Mobil-1 filters but ever since Walmart stopped carrying them in the store, I never get around to using them.

    Dang...ahead of my time, I got a 5-qt jug a couple weeks ago so I have some already. Trying to recall if that was before or after March 1.

    5 yr shelf life...... Even my wife's 2015 Outback uses 0w-20 so I think that grade will quickly become the future spec for many ICE vehicles.

    A followup. The rebate status can be checked at Mobil Rebate Research
    I just checked and shows that $12 x2 was mailed already. great news. i admit that while this is not free oil (unlike the last G-oil and PP offerings), but considering i should be able to stretch the OCI soon (after warranty expires) to 15,000-20,000 it's a great saving on oil filter and labor.

    Like last year (read the whole thread) some used Walmart successfully. Some used oil change places successfully including me. They do take the 5 gt jugs.

    FWIW, I got my rebate last year (bought jug at Walmart) and I received my rebate submission confirmation last night for this purchase. I realize that doesn't guarantee I'll get the actual rebate, but for the 3 minutes it took to fill it out, I'll take my chances again.
