What is the different about the TOURING suspension? I searched wide and low and all I get is "tuned".
Tuned to what? C#, B flat. What up?

What about shocks, struts, sway bars, dive and lift bars, etc? What is so special?:)

    In for answer.
Do part numbers/ diagrams aid in your answer?
For example, with sway bars if Toyota lists three different part numbers, one could conclude three different bar diameters.
Don't forget bushings in your research.

My guess would be, to handle the 17 inch wheels better.

Last time this was asked someone researched it and it had different shocks and springs for the 2009.

It does not budge when someone gets into the car. So something is different. Also it rides better which sounds backwards but it does.

    Here's something from another thread:

If I had to guess, the standard models are probably underdamped and undersprung, if the Tourings ride better?

    However, "suspension" isn't a part.

Yeah I'm thinking it's from a spec sheet where "Suspension" was the header. I guess I should've indented the spring and shocks bullets

I am impressed the car does not move when saddling up.

"Back in the saddle again" 9MM would update this for me:ROFLMAO::LOL: We seemed to have lost the concept to just do right.

I`m back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
    Where the longhorn cattle feed
    On the lowly gypsum weed
    Back in the saddle again

    Ridin` the range once more
    Totin` my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
    Back in the saddle again

    Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
    Rockin` to and fro
    Back in the saddle again
    Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
    I go my way
    Back in the saddle again

Hi I have a Model Two that I'm building up to better the 3 and 4 Touring models
...I heard that suspension on the Touring models are different than the non touring ones, is that true?

My understanding is that besides the 17" tires and wheels... there is some difference in the suspension. Possibly with damping adjustments. But I don't specifically know for sure. All I do know (for sure) is that I drove both back to back... and the difference was huge (in my book). I love the sportier feel of the Touring suspension.

Whether that is duplicatable by only changing the tires and wheels... remains to be seen.

Yes. But by how much? We don't know. The springs and shocks are different (I'm guessing both are a bit tauter)

I wonder if my suspension enhancements have closed the gap between the four and the four touring?

So if you're not really looking for a tighter spotier feel the 4 would provide a smoother ride? J

Thanks Lectro. I really keep struggling with what I perceive as better looks of the 4 Touring PCP with 17" and fogs, and the better equipped 4 witih ATP and PCP, better ride and perhaps even 1mpg or more due to smaller wheels. I may have to rethink everything as I don't have a ship date on my vehicle yet and it looks like Toyota is in trouble with production again, due to more earthquakes and the brake plant shutdown this week. Ugh, J.

This is the second thread (and a couple of more in various places) on this issue but all the info above is all we know at this time. We think it has different parts as the previous Tourings have had different parts. This will require a parts look up at the dealer to be sure. Normally the Touring has a stiffer suspension and does not sink when people get in it. 350 pound salesman could not get it to dip.

Both of mine are perfect and would highly recommend the Touring. The tires are perfect so far and are 51 PSI "A" "A" 600 tread wear.
