I took some of your questions to Toyota and here is their response.

    1. Has Toyota considered relocating the charging port back to the front fender?
      • No plans to move the port
    2. Will the 11.6" HD screen allow the backup camera to be display permanently (like the Model S)?
      • No plans to allow this feature
    3. Does the U.S. version have LED Array headlamps?
      • Not available on the U.S. spec model
    4. Will the technology used in Thermo-Tec Lime-Green be used to produce other heat-reflective colours for the Prius, Prius Prime or Mirai?
      • No plans at this time
    5. What is the weight gain over the previous Plug-in Prius?
      • The (weight) gain is over 100kg.
    6. Are you able to disclose the electric efficiecny of the Prime? kWh/100miles?
      • We won't be able to disclose this figure
    7. What is the cargo capacity of the Prius Prime?
      • 19.75 cu. ft.

@wjtracy , looks like the Prime loses about 8 cu. ft. over the tire repair kit model. Having seen the car in real life, there is no way there's nearly 20 cu. ft. in there. I've seen an Audi A8 and I know what 18 cu. ft. looks like in a trunk. The Prime (if measured under the tonneau cover) looks less than 12 cu. ft.

10 cubic feet is pathetic. looks like they've decided to go head to head with volt, ev miles vs mpg.

Well lets look at other attributes that the Prime will have over the Volt:

    Total Range: 600+ vs Volt's 420
Heated Seats: base version of the Volt (called the LT) does not have them. The base PiP has this (I'd be willing to bet Toyota will extend it to the Prime base).
Navigation: the model LT does not have this. The base PiP has this (I'd be willing to bet Toyota will extend it to the Prime base).
    MPGe Combined: 125 vs Volt's 106
Weight: Volt is heavier by ~300 lbs
Turning radius: 33.5 ft vs Volt's 36.4 ft (with the same wheel base this is impressive)

What does this mean? The headlights are not LED? The specs noted they were.

Also, while I'm asking, is the 11" screen glossy or matte?

After seeing 3 co-workers in the back of my Gen II Prius, I swore never again would I allow 3 people in the back. So the 4 seats doesn't bother me at all. The total range thing is kind of cool if you are on a trip. Gas up and after 600 miles you gotta be hungry so find a restaurant with L2 charging and while you eat dinner (or breakfast) gas up there as well. PlugShare is great for that.

So, Prius Prime should come in at 28 KWh/100 miles then; Compare Side-by-Side

Thanks! The Array lighting looks interesting (not avail. in USA). Bummer. Just like the Solar roof, and the signal side mirrors, the US gets stiffed again!

I'm not liking the fact that a huge 11.7" screen on the dash is glossy. Just another sun glare reflector. My current 6" screen is matte, and there is nothing wrong with that, and even then, some glare can reflect from the display. The angle is steeper - maybe that will not be as much a concern when I see it in person.

    I guess?

I suspect LED Array might be a U.S. law issue. Audi doesn't offer their "Matrix LED" headlight system either. BMW just (for 2017) somehow got authorisation to sell the i8 with laser headlights (current U.S. spec cars have LED headlights while the rest of the world has optional laser headlights).

It is tilted but I don't know what the angle is. On the plus side, there's no moonroof so the glare will only come from the side windows.

    My undestanding of the Quad LED headlights;
All 4 illuminate for low beam, and 3rd & 4th (high beam in addition to low beam function)
or is it just 2 for low beam, 2 for high beam? :)

My current vehicle has full led headlights, led for low and high beam, and there are 5 (maybe 6 but I think 5) separate LED beams in each headlight housing. The low beam uses 3 and then high beam lights up the other two. So I don't think all 4 beams on each side of prime will light for low beam, but it's a guess based on what I've seen in other vehicles, I don't know for sure.

I don't understand why Toyota is not having signal side mirrors for the US. It's not like it's a cost issue because I'm sure those must be cheap to make.

There are multiple LEDs behind each projector but here's what I got (and there are photos in the PriusChat media section)

Parking Lights. The 3 white vertical LEDs in the bumper are on as are the high beams at reduced intensity.

    Nope.

The way a company like Toyota thinks about it is a few cents multiplied by many many vehicles. Trust me, I've brought up the side signal mirror thing since the release of the Gen 3 Prius 7 years ago and it always comes down to the bean counters.

Except the Volt can now have a car seat in the middle. Or even squeeze in a third person in the back if you insist on picking up the hitchhiker with the axe.

If Toyota is going for the aggressive pricing, I wouldn't make bets about what will be standard on the base. We already know it will have smaller screen sizes for the lower trims in Europe. We also can't say for sure if the 125mpge(27.2kWh/100 mile) combined is for the car in EV or EV auto mode.

More importantly, we don't know the price for the Prime yet.

PS: 600 miles without stopping? Do you 'reuse' your empty drink bottles?

the prime will have 3 versions, so base could be pretty lonely.

    @Tideland Prius

Couldn't find this reported on PriusChat to date, but do we know if the rear seat headroom in the Prime will be the same as the Liftback? Prime is said to be ~1" lower in height than the Liftback. Hopefully this is ground clearance only, and not taken out of headroom.
