So my wife and I have never owner a Prius, and I've ALWAYS wanted a Prius. It's not that I'm a huge environmental guy, or that I need a big $$ savings on gas, but I just love the technology and engineering that goes into them. I like playing the EV only game. It was between a Prius and a Volt, ultimately the Prius one because of the reliability record, availability, and price. We traded our '10 Kia Sedona which was getting about 18 mpg, and needed about $2k in maintenance and repairs. We got a great deal on this, around $2k off MSRP with incentives and about 2 hours of negotiating. It's a Prius Two, and I think I may be in love.

That's nearly my story. I sold a 2010 Honda Pilot getting 16mpg and bought a Four Touring. I always admired the Prius, as well. It's a great car. I'm averaging just about 50mpg which seems amazing to me. I got the same color as you.

Thanks everyone, I'm new here and plan to contribute as much as I can. One quick question, I just got the car yesterday, and thought I should check the tire pressure. The dealer had them all around 43.5 psi, which I think is high. The door jamb shows 35/36, so I brought them all down to 37.5. What are you all running for pressure? The sidewall says a max of 44.

it's all over the place. i run 42/40 f/r to try and pick up more mpg. makes for a harsher ride though.

You would be fine safety Wise keeping the tires pumped up where they were. Actually you would prob gain an mpg or three with them pumped up that way. If you want more ride comfort and a couple less mpg then deflate them to factory specs....

Nice looking Prius. What brand of tires came on yours? I believe the door jam placard says 36 front, 35 rear.
Nobody has explained why the rear requires a bit less pressure.

I think you should just pump the tires up to the recommended pressure so that you get the best balance of comfort, MPG, and handling.

Cars ship with tires at max pressure posted on the sidewall, basically to avoid flat spotting during protracted sitting. Dealerships are supposed to bring the tires down to the spec on the decal in the driver's door opening.

This is not happening, quite regularly, going by reports here. And you're paying for this, it's part of the Pre Delivery Inspection charge. Let the dealership know, say email the dealership owner, maybe they'll give you some freebies, or partially refund the PDI charge (yeah right)? Also, I'd check the temp spare (if you have one), it's pressure may be way off too.

It looks great in black. Two months ago I picked up one in grey to replace my '04 Prius in black and my girlfriend convinced me to go with a color different than my last car.

No clue why I listened, when our last dog passed away, we adopted yet another black Lab. ;-)

Yes, glenn, you have the 17" wheels/tires on your Touring model. My Camry had that same size tire (Bridgestone) and inflation numbers. 32/33. It rode pretty well.

I'm starting to like the 15" tires on my Three. (36/35 psi.) The car rides "softer", yet still handles very well. Not sloppy at all. Even the noise has decreased somewhat as I reached the 1300 mark on the ODO.
