EDIT: My apologies -- if this post is more appropriate for the "Local Clubs, Events, and Road Trips" section then could a Mod move it please?

-------------------------

Got this in my email, thought I would share:

Break a Guinness World Records title.
Win a New 2016 Prius.

Prius owners, help us set a Guinness World Records title for most hybrids in a parade—all you need to do is bring your Prius. We’ll celebrate this historic afternoon with free food from gourmet food trucks and games, free tours of the USS Hornet and some monumental prizes.

I got the mailer today. Sounds like fun, I'm only a few miles away.

It should be easy if the current record is 208:

July 25, 2011

208 vehicles took part in Hybrids On Parade, which broke a Guinness world record.

The previous Guinness world record for the largest parade of hybrid cars was 140 during and event organised by Toyota Belgium at Tervuren, Belgium

Back in 2008 I was part of 100+ smart fortwo cars on Lombard Street in San Francisco, and it was a blast -

Just got the mailer as well. I wonder what gourmet food is coming from a truck.

Good luck! Just from here, it reads like an invitation to a traffic jam. <GRINS>

I was one of the organizers who helped return the "Largest parade of hybrid cars" World Record to the USA.

HOP (Hybrids on Parade) was one of many events as part of the sixth annual Green Drive Expo back in 2011.
Think Smart » Hybrids on Parade

The unique thing about our event is that it was really a grass roots effort, as opposed to being solely run by Toyota corporate.
We had all kinds of hybrids there from all over the country. Many of the participants were people from here on PriusChat. (You know who you are.)

Best of luck in breaking our Guinness World Record! You can do it!

Hummmm, I wonder if a red Prius with four actor-crooks might show up . . .

I will be there. Hopefully enough folks show up to actually break the previous record.

Ours was a grass roots effort in the Midwest and we were able to break it.
With corporate backing and being in the land of hybrids on the West Coast, you should be able to crush it. Be sure to tell everyone you know that owns a hybrid. Not just Prius folks.

The response at was hmmm semi-ambiguous when the question was asked about whether non-Priuses and non-Toyota hybrids and PHEVs would count/should be invited.

They said:
"All hybrids are invited, but space is limited so we'd prefer if it was just cars in the Prius family. Invite the rest as passengers!"

There are lots of other PHEVs and non-Toyota hybrids at my work and I know some Volt, HyHi and HyCam folks too.

It would be nice if we had this in SoCal, I would imagine it would be a very successful event. Maybe after the NorCal event SoCal could hold the same and try to beat the NorCal numbers!? Toyota are you listening?

Anyone can organize this kind of event, not just a corporation. If you are interested, I'd be happy to share information about how things were done here in Wisconsin for the event.
It does take a lot of money and time, but definitely worth it.

Thanks for the offer, but with corporate help from leading automotive sponsors, it would take less time and the costs would be shared. Something that is very possible. :)

I received a confirmation email on Friday 4/22/16 ~10:08 am Pacific that ended up in Gmail's spam folder.

It has the same "theme" as the web site and starts off with "You're all set. Thanks for helping us make history..."

I really hope we have a good turnout and that it doesn't end up being an effort in vain.
