I've looked all over online but can't find measurements for the cargo area of a 2016 Prius C with the rear seat folded down. I'm wanting to know if my road bike can fit in there with the wheels off. Does anyone know those measurements? Thanks in advance.
My mountain bike fits in the cargo area with just the front tire removed, so you shouldn't have any trouble with your road bike. The length of the cargo area is about 55 inches, with the front seats all the way back. Pushing the passenger seat forward gets you another 10 inches on that side of the car.
Thanks so much. Good to know. You'd think that a simple measurement such as cargo area with rear seats folded down would be part of the standard specs online... but I could never find it posted anywhere. Thanks again. You can fold down the front seats too? Just the passenger side... or both?
With the rear seat folded you get about 150cm (front seat not fully pushed back) and the boot door width is 98cm.
I find in general it works better to sit in the car while driving it. I would not fold down the front seat on the drivers side. In a nutshell here is what you can do: You can lower each of the rear seats to provide you with a station wagon type cargo format once you have removed (but not taken out of the car) the head rests of the rear seats. I tuck them under the front seats for safe keeping. To lower the rear seats pull up on the Munster looking black button on the top which releases the latch. There is one on each side similar to Munster form. Having the back rests out of the way enables you to flatten them. Then you have what is commonly described as a 17 cubic foot cargo section. If you push the passenger seat on the rails forward it helps. But I am not aware of its ability to recline enhancing the cargo section. If you have a cargo cover you would need to determine based on your bike if they could coincide. If not then the cover can be removed. Whatever you do, make sure the fork does not invade your upholstery or floor. Use cardboard to protect the floor and maybe wrap the fork in some fabric. Good luck, I am sure it will work out fine.
Yeah you can fit a mountain bike without the wheel. Bro, I moved a leather La-Z-Boy in my 2015 Prius C with some room to spare
Why not take your bicycle ride to a Toyota dealer and ask to see if your bike fits in the boot? That will give you the true answer not knowing the intricacies of you bicycle dimensions. You could always install a trailer hitch and tow your bike.....haha
Well, what I did to maximize space (for transporting/moving big/long things) without having to go borrow someone's pickup truck (even a lot of pickups nowadays have a shorter bed then my lil prius, and seem to be made more for people who just want to have a big car to ride around in) is fold down the rear seats and take off the passenger side rear seats headrest, then fold down the passenger seat back (like someone would for laying down for a nap)...and that would give you more space then folding the passenger seat forward (since it would barely just tilt down a bit)
I had a Torklift Eco Hitch installed on my Prius C so that I could mount a bike rack on the back whenever I wanted to go riding somewhere. The hitch and the rack are both great, and it's so much easier to deal with the bikes than having to wrestle them into or out of the hatch. Highly recommended.
