Hummm, it looks like some VW dealerships might be interested in selling another product. Now if Tesla needs a dealership somewhere . . . perhaps a few deals can be struck.

FYI, the model 3 meets my requirements:

1. 215 mile range - will let me drive to Nashville.
2. autodriving - SAFETY that needs to be compared to TSS-P
3. $35k - about $10k over the base Level 2 or $5k over a Level 3 with ATP

As a 70kWh Model X reservation holder, I suppose I COULD sell someone my priority spot in line for the Model 3 . . . . .

132K was reported last night. I figure its too late to deposit now unless you want to wait until 2019.

The car is better than I expected. 6 second acceleration in the base model, better in the upgrades. Safety features are all standard no extra cost, and double the superchargers are being built by the time i get mine.

Tesla's safety on the model 3 appears much stronger than a prius with tss-p. Tesla also has over the air updates to help add features easily.

The prius is pretty safe, but the model 3 should be able to reduce injuries.

if it's 35k msrp, the tax credit may not matter sales wise.

 

How about closer to 150,000 deposits in the first 24 hours, walk-in and on-line. I'm happy I put my deposit down and have a place in the queue.

 

My concern is the "Important 7500 Tax Credit"

 

I have spent $41,000 on a pair of Prius and never got any tax credit or advantage:

• $17,250 - Used 2003 Prius bought in 2005
• $24,000 - New 2010 Prius bought in 2009

If you can't afford the car without the subsidy, you can't afford the car.

Bob, I expent a lot more in 4 Prii, 2005-2008 2011 and 2012 (PiP)
I received my tax credit incentive for the 2012 PiP, and it helped....and on time.
Why not to expect the same for a full BEV?

 

Understand, never turn down an offer. Just sayin' if it is not there, other buyers won't care. Eventually these cars have to stand on their own in the market place.

From what I have read there will be various options but the word is that the early sales will be the upgraded models and they won't be in no $35k bracket either. More like in the $50k's THEN the cheaper ones will start to appear so I have read. Obviously there is some design to the sales. And another is the changing policies until they deliver next year as well. So lots of things will change and so no point in getting panties in a bunch over what we know know as things are in a flux and probably so in the many months to follow. All in fun tho as we go.

 

I went at 1:30 when the line was only 20 minutes, guy at front had been there since 11 am. I called at 10 am and there was a 400 person line. This is in a gallery in texas where they can't sell cars. They are allowed to have employees take deposits in california on line.
