@bengarland i'd agree about the enmasse shift to bizarre extreme by today's auto designers. It's sad to see the Toyota design team follow right along.

Yeah the lock side of the button is illuminated with a tiny green dot. You would think "oh there's the lock, so the unlock is on the other side" but I still fumble for it.

On the Gen 4, everything is illuminated, yes even the lock AND unlock buttons.

Well....after owning an '04 and a'10....and seeing the new '16 model 4T....I am going to have to say farewell to Prius. The last 12 years I have enjoyed, but there are just too many 'little things' about the new model that I don't like. The deal killer is the lack of a spare tire. I told my dealer that if I could pay to have a spare installed somehow, I would buy it. But he checked and replied that would not be possible.
So I hit the car show next week, and start searching for a substitute....:(

    Each generation had something.

No one remembers what it was for the Classic...

Having a spare tire was a priority for me. That's why I chose the Three model.
I also wanted the new Lithium-Ion battery, and the Navigation system to play with.

(Now, if I could just cure the darn tire noise, wind noise, road noise, cabin noise, frame scraping, moisture in the tail light, and the seat height adjustment that slowly fades back down...)

    <AHEM>

In 2001, we rented a Prius for several days and we decided to go with a 2001 Echo because:
    • 41 MPG over ~100 miles
    • no cruise control
    • did not want the GPS navigation
    • $21,000 vs $14,250
    • hideous green
We sold that 2001 Echo in 2009 for $3,000 with 30,000 miles to offset the 2010 Prius purchase.

FYI, we lost our 1991 Camry in an accident in 2005 and bought a used, 2003 Prius, $17,000. Black, it had cruise control and no GPS navigation. It remains my daily commuter.

i thought i didn't mind the new look, but i saw it in person today and it's hideous.

i think the gen 3 prius is very cute and svelte. debating whether my next car will be the gen 3 or a ct200h. or a model 3 if my income doubles.

Things I don't like. The headrests force my head too far forward. Can't relax my neck when driving.
I can't find a way to have the power flow diagram (with battery SOC bars) show on the top screen. Just the climate control/clock in that area to the right of the speed and drive mode.
Turn signals front and back are still incandescent, as are the interior/door lights but those are easy to upgrade to panel LEDs. Turn signals, much harder probably. LED headlights are cool. I can hear that they are cooled with a fan like a lot of the aftermarket LED headlight kits. I wonder if the fan is able to be replaced without replacing the entire fixture (hope so! Though the fans may be very reliable).
Engine is not HCCI lean burn.
    Emergency brake is not electric.
The vents facing the humans on the far left and right, don't seem to get much airflow at all.
It's not a Volt. I really hope it's not too difficult to design a plugin kit for it.
Navigation will take some getting used to. I hope map updates will be free for life, like on a smart device would be.
    Thanks

    The 2016 Prius '3'.
Another gripe, 'B' mode, not very strong regen. Maybe 20KW I estimate.

It looked twice as bad in person for me . Probably one of the ugliest cars out in last 10 years . That's probably why there is only a "what DON'T you like about this car thread open in stead of a what DO you like".
