Well it would certainly be the ultimate "green" car.

Come to think of it, perhaps that explains why Toyota avoids green in the Prius lineup, it could generate too many snide remarks.

I don't see it offered on the Toyota AU site so I guess it's limited to just Japan (at least as far as we know). It's a unique colour and I suppose not many people are willing to drive a car that's painted in highlighter yellow.

A shade of green has been offered in all generations

Gen 1 - Electric Green Mica
    Gen 2 - Tideland Pearl
Gen 2.5 - Silver Pine Mica
Gen 3 - Ok this one didn't have any
Gen 3.5 - Sea Glass Pearl
Gen 4 - Sea Glass Pearl

A dark green would be nice. But even Tesla dropped the dark green option on their Model S last year. Toyota had a nice dark green called Black Forest Pearl on the Gen 3.5 RAV4. Not a fan of their current 4Evergreen Mica (Corolla) or Evergreen Pearl (2013 RAV4. Offered for 1 year only).

I've had 3 "unintentional" green cars - what you get when you buy Second-Hand.

Probably not my choice - the ones of my choice have been pale silver or white.

But this time, I NEED Mid-Life Crisis RED - seeing I can't get Thermo-Tech Lime Green.

Trouble is, you get to the dealer, and he says "take this one on the forecourt, and I can give you a great deal". With Gen 3, almost all the ones I've ever seen in stock are white, with the odd silver, and I've never seen more than one in the same dealership.

Prius hasn't been a big seller in Australia - there are about a dozen Gen 3s still on inventories in my city - and no Gen 4s shown up yet.

I used carsguru.com to do a search and had to go 200 miles out of Sayre, PA to find a Red Two Eco :) But there were a few... and a 200 drive in a Prius isn't much :) Closest being Newark, DE 163 miles away.

Actually was looking on Car Gurus best prices seem to be in Maryland. However, my trade-in has aftermarket items that will have to be remove before I can actually trade it in.

It's £650 GBP ($918 USD) extra in the uk, compared to £495 ($699) for the other metallics.

I've noticed it's a higher surcharge in Japan too than the regular metallics.

We had to wait about a month to get one. Our sales guy said they have sold six 2016 models and four of them were red. I think as soon as they roll off the assembly line they're spoken for!

I've seen a couple Hypersonic Reds around town here in San Diego.

    Wow!

I haven't been excited about a paint color in a very long time. That RED is a beauty.

I believe it's the same as our "Emotional Red" in Australia - which is a quite complex paint - TOYOTA gave this information:

    upload_2018-9-24_6-47-19.png

I'd suspect it would be more difficult to repair in the case of an accident than ... white. I asked about it, but, besides being more expensive, I was told to expect to wait 3-4 months for delivery.

A bit more trivia about this colour - TOYOTA advise:

"* 1. The colours of the inner board of the emotional red and the engine room differ slightly in coluor from the body colour".
