Your friend was right. Toyota is great, as I'm sure the Gen 4 is. But they make mistakes sometimes. The white console does look like a toilet. It's a really bad idea. Every drop of coffee or anything else will show on it. Maybe the intention was to make the car look clean. But this will make it look dirty.

Also, the white seats on some models seem lame. They'll also show dirt and stains easily. I won't buy a Gen 4 until next year. Hopefully by then Toyota will have put the lid down on the toilet (i.e. get rid of the ridiculous white console, seats and other highlights). I can just imagine a kid with dirty hands in the front seat, or a dog. The white is going to look real bad real fast.

Still waiting on my car. I'm wondering, can I apply the applique package myself? Or is it something the dealer or a shop needs to do because of the difficulty installing it? Are there directions that can be found on the internet or a YouTube video on how to install the covering? Thanks.

 

Be sure a clean the surfaces first. I used an alcohol wipe. Make sure it drys.
The tricky part is making sure the lower pieces clears the cigarette lighter cover-door and the usb cover-door.
So without seating it, push it back as far as it goes and lower the back portion first.
Verify that the little doors can open and shut freely before you lower the rest of the cover into contact.
You won't be able to shift the cover once comes into full contact.

The instructions tell you to not unplug anything to install the cover. I unplugged everything and even removed the cup holders. This made it much easier to work with.

Just remember to plug everything back in when you're done!!

I have the black that came from the dealer installed and it looks great for what its worth. It also seems well built and integrated to the original.

No, it wasn't hard at all. Just a gentle tug to release the clips. Then unplug everything, unscrew the cup holder, and you're ready.

 

I just picked up my Prius 4 Touring yesterday. It came with the Lower Console/Shifter Appliqué Package. I have an Iphone 6 Plus and noticed that the phone will not lay flat on the Qi charging pad because of the Lower console Applique. Do you know how it is secured to the console? Is it easy to get it off?

 

The kit is with double sided sticky tape.

 

The iPhone 6 Plus will not fit in that area, even without the appliqué.

 

Yes, double stick tape. Will probably ruin it to remove it, but should not hurt the white surface at all. Just get some goop-off to clean it up.

 

Bummer. Glad I asked before I ripped the applique off.

 

I'm not happy with my appliqué. It's already coming loose. It also isn't the same metallic black as the console and the shifter appliqué. I might remove it too.

Be careful with Goof Off or Goo Gone not to get it on Softex seats if you have them. I did on my 2015 PIP and have a shinny forever stain/spot.
