A collapsible warning triangle now fits under the floor in the Gen 4. There's a cutout in the foam for it!

No gen II PiP spec's yet?

Looking forward to seeing if a donut tire will be do-able with a 20/30 mile larger (hopefully) traction pack
    (sigh)
Here to hoping, and wishing ... and crossing fingers. I'd seriously consider letting our place in line get canceled for a nicely appointed - and decent ranged PiP (presuming she-who-must-be-obeyed gave the blessing).

I am actually not that much concerned about driving in the city. But how about having a flat at a remote place? We drive all around to different parks, places, etc. Many of those places have zero cell reception. No spare, no buy indeed! Interestingly, people who had a real bad experience with the tire (for example, mine was just destroyed once by a flying piece of cardboard), will never go without. But the good news is that not only they can install HomeLink mirror on 3 (3T), but also there are several people who installed a donut in 4! (see 2016 modification thread). So we do have options.

I'd think not, but let's see. Consider that the Gen1 PiP didn't have a spare, and while I don't know exact dimensions of the space under the Gen4's back seat, it's pretty likely that a battery set large enough to give some non-joke EV range is going to need more room and be at least partly in the trunk. Even if it doesn't, given the MPG shenanigans we've seen with the Two Eco and the Fours, I'll guess the donut gets the boot just to goose the EPA estimated EV range. (And sure, I'll raise a glass to the hope of being pleasantly surprised.)

That's the bottom line, really. Even if you call for AAA roadside assistance (as we have on a couple of occasions), they'll change your tire, but they won't bring you a new one. To those who argue "What's so special about a tire? Other failures could disable you just as well - what are ya gonna do, carry a spare engine?" I offer this empirical (perhaps anecdotal) observation - the ONLY failures that I have experienced that left my car unable to proceed until corrected have been tire problems. So yes, other failures could disable me at least as badly, but no, they are not nearly as likely to occur.

In the end, it all comes down to risk appetite vs. inconvenience vs. (because of Toyota's specific packaging choices) other desirable features, which ultimately means personal preference. While there's no right or wrong to that, I would argue that those who make their decision based on estimating the risk at approximately zero are fudging the math, possibly to their regret.

Yep - we dumped our Range Rover for our '04 Pri 12yrs ago ... so advanced GenII PiP w/ decent range? in lieu of Tesla X ? We'd consider doing that !

I'd like to know this too. I was told I can buy a spare tire on the Eco but not whether or not is was full-sized. Although I found the Eco appealing after driving one, I'd insist on a spare, preferably a full-size one. A doughnut would be acceptable though; I just don't want to be in a position to try out the tire repair kit (no way, no how!).

If I'm reading the charts correctly (and thank you so much for doing all that work -- very much appreciated), the only models in which the nav system is not included are on the Prius 2 and Prius 2 Eco?

One of the things I appreciated when I purchased my 2010 package IV was that I didn't have to take the moonroof or the nav system. The package IV came with leather heated seats w/lumbar support and leather wrapped steering wheel and those were the only 'upgrades' I needed or wanted. I use a Garmin GPS to navigate and that's my system of choice.

I hope Toyo reconsiders their options and combos at some point in the future. I'm not in the market for a new car, but I love my Gen3 Prius Pkg IV and I hope by the time I'm ready for a new Prius I'll be able to forgo the extras I don't need to get some of the luxury features I want.

Isn't the Three Touring priced about the same as the Prius IV? Just swap nav and power lumbar support (among other new items like TSS-P)

When I bought my 2010 new, I chose from a II, III, IV or a V, plus exterior colors.

Today is my first look at the this thread. Too many variations, and I suspect after studying all of the combinations and getting your wife to agree on "the perfect" new car, the dealer will not have the color with the options you want.
It will require more study for me to be certain (plus reading 14 pages of comments), but I find the tables on page 1 remarkable, but overwhelming.

I got my wife to agree one what colors not to get. Combined with mine, I gave the salesman a list of possibilities. He came back with two that he could find. I bought the one that was on the boat from Japan.

It's worse than it looks at first glance. Beyond the complexity, there's the issue of unpredictable tradeoffs, i.e, if you want X then you can't have Y, and you MUST get Z.

Would you rather have heated seats or a spare tire? Because you can't have both.

Like the Heads-up display? Hope you don't have your heart set on 17" wheels, then - and you'd better want a sunroof, because you're getting one.

Over in the land of the world's most expensive cars, the 2016 Prius come with either Leather or fabric and with a spare tire in the boot.
The rest of the specs are here:
    Prius - Toyota Singapore

it's a more of a 4 Touring with some from the 2s and the 3s....We do not have integrated nav. though it comes with a JBL 8-speaker system and a Thinkware H50 front cam.

To be fully loaded I believe you would also need to add PCP as well. The Toyota website shows them combined on a Four as follows.

I think it is different for different people. I can honestly say that in 44 years of driving and well over a million miles combined, I've never had to change a tire on the road. I have had plenty of nails and screws causing slow leaks, but I've always been able to fix at home. Of course you would probably be right in assuming I'm about due if that is the case, however, I live in a very urban environment and take few trips out of state, so I'm willing to take the risk.

The power refers to the adjustment. Separate from folding.

Add leather and heat for ~$1500 to all seats plus center console arm rest. Actual leather, not softex. Did this in my Two Eco. Looks like it should, and loads better than softex.
