    Hi everyone...

So some dude decided to turn right in front of me last week and my poor Gen3 Prius Two, not II, is likely to be totaled...
(For those who care, here is what was captured on my dash cam
    )

While I'm debating whether to go with the Gen4, go full electric, or just get a replacement (maybe a 2012 for the new tail lights) to hold me over for 2 years until the Testla Model 3 comes out, I have a heck of a time deciding which of the Gen4 version I'd want...

I've seen some of you with the Prius 4 and some with the 4T, I'd like to know what made you choose one way or the other... Here is what I gathered, and here are some questions I have for you... Thanks in advance!

    1. For those who have HUD, how often do you use it?
    2. Does anyone know what the 17" wheel looks like with the grey plastic part removed?
    3. Does anyone know how it compares to the non-touring ones?
    Prius 4 with PCP+ATP $33,125
    Pros:
    HUD
    Sunroof
    Smaller turning radius (by 2ft)

    Cons:
No sunglass holder because of sunroof (I use that feature every day)
    15" wheels
No front LED accent light or fog light

    Prius 4T with PCP $32,540
    Pros:
Looks better with 17" wheels + LED accent light or fog light
    Touring suspension
    Almost $800 cheaper

    Con:
    No HUD
No sunroof (I think I'll be fine without a sunroof, I haven't had one for the last 5 years lol)

My previous car had a sunroof and I never used it which is what made the decision for me :) Plus I like the look of 17" wheels as well as the fog lights.

Not sure how much of a factor for you, but neither the 4 or 4 touring have a spare tire.

Sorry to hear about your accident, ouch. I chose the 4 specifically for the HUD. My sales region ( Northern California ) does not offer that option package so I purchased from Dianne Whitmire at Carson Toyota, It was worth the flight. I'm sure some people will prefer the 17" wheels and fog lights on the Touring but the HUD is really useful.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I don't really have a dog in this fight, but I personally think I'd get the 4. Bigger wheels and fog lights can always be added later.

I thought about that too but the fact that I have never had the need for the spare in the past 5-7 years (knock on wood) made me question the need for it too....

Do you use it primarily for the speed, and the eco gage (whatever that's called) or for the nav? Does it display radio/media info or SMS too?

I use it primarily for the speedometer. It is supposed to also show turn by turn navigation when a destination is set but I have not tried it yet. You can also turn off the HUD if you don't want to see it.

I'm going to add a Dash Cam, looking for recommendations.

I really like the HUD. it "goes away" most of the time and when I need it it is right there, just a focus away. I also think that the 15" tires will offer more choice when replacing and be less expensive than the 17" tires. I am not a big fan if the sun roof, but I find myself using thus one some. Maybe even more in the summer?

I use a Garmin dash cam in both of my Toyotas. I have not had any issues, unlike the cheap Chinese eBay versions that I returned.

I chose the Four Touring because it cost less and I didn't care to have a sunroof that much. I love it. I don't think I miss the HUD, either.

I'm with you on the cheaper part... and the fact that the sunroof removes the sunglass holder :/

You should sit in front passenger seat (non height adjustable, I assume) of models with/without sunroof, check the head room. With 3rd gen there was quite a difference.

We had a sunroof on one car in the last 40 years or so, to me it seemed a novelty, could take it or leave it.

I faced the same Four/Four Touring dilemna. I ultimately went with the Four because of the HUD (use it more than I thought) and the sunroof. Like previous cars, I doubt I'll open the sunroof very often, I just like the extra light that filters into the car. I also didn't really care about larger tires or fog lights and I was not a big fan of the blue stitching in the Touring. Either way, both are great cars. I've only had mine three days and I'm loving it.

I am currently anticipating a Prius Four with ATP+PCP. I want the sunroof and the HUD. There are enough smart people that perhaps I can have the clearance lights and other things added after-market.

I bought a Prius Four with PCP and ATP and I LOVE it. I didn't buy the four touring because I noticed a huge ride difference with the touring. The ride in the four was WAY better with the smaller and thicker tires and wheels. I liked that you could get more features in the four than the four touring like sunroof and HUD. THE HUD IS SO HELPFUL AND I DONT THINK I COULD LIVE WITHOUT IT. I do miss fog lights though.

keep us posted... i don't think adding the clearance light is that big of a deal... but I really liked the accent light in the headlight assembly... I'm sure the 17" aftermarket is easy

Excellent point on the headroom difference between the power driver's seat and the manual passenger seat.

I am 6'-3" (but long waisted) and need to angle the passenger seat back to fit -- and that is without a moonroof.

The extra headroom on the driver's side makes a real difference.

I chose the 4 over the 4t because of the sunroof. It comes in handy during those super hot days. If the forecast calls for clear and hot, then just leave it open a crack when leave it in the parking lot to go to work. It really keeps the cabin temperature down. When its in the tilt up position, even if it rains a little, it'l be ok.
