2005 with 171,000 miles The battery pack cooling fan is running all the time, red triangle check engine and ((!)) on the dash, yellow ((!)) PROBLEM then red ((!)) on the mfd display I see the code is for the first pair of modules but I have green bars on the display,MPG has not dropped the battery pack was rebuilt about 7 months ago where modules 2 others were replaced and the techstream print out showed all over 16 (almost 17) volts with the car on new 12 volt optima yellow top last month, shows 14 volts car on so I think the charging system is OK is this just another bad module or is there something more I should be worried about..
Code is for a bad vblock (pair of modules) Symptoms indicate a bad module. Was this a rebuild you did yourself? Answered my own question with some searching. Looks like a case of playing wack-a-mole. Was ~4 months since last teardown and module replacement. - February 2016. Bad module. - November 2015 bought modules off ebay (2 of them?). Installed by owner. vblock 9? - In 2014 had someone off craigslist redo it and replaced 2 modules. Guy did it in the driveway and guy who did it, his phone# is no longer in service
yes, I did it myself, if I remember right I replaced 17 & 18 last time Ill hook up the techstream and do a full test and update the codes if there are anymore, I had a hand held scanner in the car and checked it real fast and got P3011 whats the lowest acceptable voltage on these mods before they trip the error code? I have 2 mods sitting here one at 7.34 and one at 7.48 ..think they are still good? pulling this thing in and out is becoming a pain
Resting voltage can be deceiving. What do they look like under load? Here is kiwi's video that shows how sometimes the resting voltage hides the fact that the module is weak.
thanks, even though the display is almost full of green bars the ICE runs constantly other codes were p3000 p3011 c1259 b2775 b1271 gateway Ill take the pack part again over the weekend like you said, wack-a-mole until I get it right thanks Ill take it apart again this weekend and try it again other code from teckstream were p3000 p3011 c1259 b2775 b1271 I think they are all related to a weak mod
48mpg, It's not that you aren't doing it right. It's just a case that if you fix the ones that are bad now, later other ones will become bad.
true, i guess the pack will have issues due to the car sitting unused for a long time before I bought it, my other prius was a 2004 with 225,000 miles on the original battery and it was never opened..it was a daily driver its entire life...thanks for the help..
