Billion dollar multinational auto corporation - it pays millions for air time & production. We sigh a sigh of relief when a prius ad doesn't suck.
Someone recently sent me a link of a home made auto commercial - & its quality, message, & production blew me away. So much so - i searched to see if by chance other owners took the trouble to not only create auto ads - but produce really decent, entertaining ads;

there are actually a bunch of these home-made ads, but i'll refrain by only posting these - a couple of my favorites.

who has the time and/or initiative to do that?! How crazed for your ride are you, if you're compelled to make an ad. After watching a half dozen of these, i'm not feeling like Toyota's ad company is providing as much bang for their buck as they could - imo.

Maybe Toyota should let Prius owners make their commercials.

 

i've seen amateur prius youtube's, they are usually pretty good. but i could do a better job than most lawyers, credentials aren't always a guarantee of success.
there are hundreds or thousands of bad commercials, and many of them from car companies. we just don't pay attention.

 

Loved the first Tesla commercial!
Simple.
Fun.
It's everything that Tesla could be as a corporation, and they have a dwindling opportunity NOT to make electro-cars before the world devolves into a bleak, Mad Max, dystopian world, but to ACTUALLY make cars that are not only affordable, but cars that real people that other people want to hang with.....want to drive.

So.....put me down for a "not so much" on the second Tesla commercial, and we'll leave it at that.

As far as Toyota goes?
Yeah, the bar should be much higher than "It didn't suck as much as the other commercials!" but there's 15 years of hybrid history behind all of the previous Prius commercials that made the most recent one such a relief to watch!

The bank robber commercials are starting to wear on me. I've seen these spots a lot on satellite channels and to the point that I've stop watching them all the way through.

One unintended message that comes through loud and clear is it's a small 4 seater. Obviously unintentional and due to shot blocking of the actors since the rear passengers speak/react quite frequently and thus the viewer needs to see their faces.

 

Well...they dropped the rainbows and flowers, but the new commercial still sucked. Actually it was kind of embarrassing.

 

What current auto commercials do you approve of?

 

...approve of? There's a loaded question. I qualify my previous statement as the owner of two Prius (Prii).

C'mon Bob . . . . the truly snazzy stuff only goes for the trucks . . . . sexy - exciting . . . . we're talking mileage champs now. You don't want to pull thunder from the real money makers. I kinda fear (presuming it's coming still) the Gen II plugin ad that their agency may be working on.

Life imitates art: Jasper police arrest Prius driver after long pursuit through city - Dubois County Free Press

. . . The Prius pulled into the Family Video parking lot where the officer attempted to initiate a stop but the car fled.

According to police, the driver exited the Family Video parking lot onto Fifth Street and immediately turned into the CVS parking lot and shot across Sixth Street through a red light and headed down MacArthur Street.

The Prius continued north to 13th Street where the officer lost contact with it.

A few moments later though, the officer spotted the car in the St. Thomas Medical Center parking lot at 600 W. 13th Street. But, when officers attempted to stop the car, the driver fled the parking lot by jumping the Prius off a four-foot retaining wall onto Bartley Street.

Officers said the impact of the car onto the street created divots in its surface.
