How do I reset the warning lights after brake pad replacement? The brake, abs, and traction control warning lights came on when I replaced the front brakes. Didn't have that problem when I replaced the rear brakes yesterday. Everything went well and the brakes feel great. Just need to reset whatever codes turn on those lights.
I reloaded Techstream on my computer and reset the codes. Everything is good to go now. I wonder why SCANGAUGE did not report any codes to reset?
ScanGauge will only report CEL engine and emissions codes unless you program for Prius specific codes.
I programmed SCANGAUGE II to read the Prius OBD codes. But got none. I dont know if the program is for all codes but brakes would seem to be one of the obvious ones. There were four codes I reset with Techstream. The high level brake code was master cylinder pressure. All seems to be fine. I assume the master cylinder pressure was from compressing the front pistons all the way in then having to pump the pedal to expand it so much and it had to recalibrate itself.
I had the Brake, ABS & TCS lights suddenly appear after leaving the 2010 Prius running with the family inside on a hot day yesterday while I stepped in to get some things at a store. The car would run but the power brakes weren't working. I got home, disconnected the battery about 3 different times over 2 days and had the battery tested (which tested good) and I still couldn't get these warning lights to go away. Today I put the car up on jack stands and bled all 4 sets of brakes and followed the instructions on frodoz737's video and it cleared all the warning lights. I had replaced the bearings & struts on all four wheels last year and made it through the whole operation with no warning lights, but since then the brakes had acted jerky and pulsated at slow braking. Now, after re-bleeding the brake system and clearing these warning lights, the car drives and brakes like normal again. BTW, thanks frodoz737. Your video really helped.
