...if you check MiniVCI Toyota on Amazon look at the highlighted negative review he shows how to check for bad solder joints and fix it. Although seems funny to have partially working VCI.

Wow that's interesting! And I literally gave away all my hot air rework soldering equipment a few weeks ago.. ahh!!! I also think it's weird it would partially work from bad solder joints.

I decided to order one of the 64-bit mini VCI so I gotta wait for epacket from China.

Oh interesting. Your's is a Gen 2 prius? If you can connect to the TPMS, I'll buy one just like yours.

    Merged

EDIT: I just got back from the tire shop. 3 and a half hours of waiting.

They told me they were going to try a different sensor. They did that and were able to reprogram it and now the light is gone. They didn't explain the difference between the sensor they put in on Tuesday and the sensor they put in today. Supposedly they had to order it and that's why I was waiting around for a while. I wonder if it came from Toyota hmm.....

They also gave me a future free oil change.

I say pass on free oil change. Expect long wait and the oil level to be overfilled. Worst case of an oil overfill, here on PriusChat, resulted in a used engine replacement.

Acquire tools to DIY. I can do it in 30min, start to finsh w/ clean up. Rotating tires adds 15min.

True. I did the last two oil changes myself and am aware not to overfill. Quite possible they may do just that.

OK I got mini VCI from China the 32 and 64 bit version for $39 bucks. Turned out my old computer was XP 32 bit, so I have not tried the 64 bit software install yet. 32 bit worked fine.

Re; Techstream TPMS- I noticed there was input codes for 5 tires ID1 thru ID5 and ID5 was set for code 0000000 (which meant unused). So I reset the TMPS by entering 0000000 code for the bad TMPS (ID1 right front), thus shutting off the darn flashing idiot light. Next step I will buy a new Denso sensor from Amazon. I let a little air out of each tire to figure out which tire was which.

Thank you @wjtracy that's the exact info I needed. I wanted to program 0000000 into one of the bad sensor last night but found out my mini vci lacked ecu programming functionality because it's v1.4.1. This version does not have k-line communication which is used for programming. I'm ordering a mini vci v2.0.4 on Amazon for $42 which should solve that problem and allow me to program tpms.

I only have one bad sensor right now. I hope to buy a used one for $20 to replace it. Then I'll replace the battery on the bad one and save it until the next one goes out.

The 0000000 doesn't work if you drive more than 1 hour, the car's ECU will pick up the error again. Only works if you drive less than 1 hour and shut down

Yes that post is a little old, setting to 0000000 seems to be a temporary reset.
The following thread gives all the things I have tried:
TPMS Management with Techstream | PriusChat

Right now I finally lost my second TPMS unit at 12 years, so my warning light is back on. I probably need at least 2 new tires....if so I may finally replace all the old TPMS.
