    Instead of the 1.8-liter engine it uses a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 working together with the electric motors of the standard car. The six-cylinder combustion engine is also used in the outgoing Prius GT300 where it’s mid-mounted, but in this latest racing application it remains in factory position as per the new regulations.

    Other technical details are not available at the moment, but the images show a very wide body kit with huge front and rear splitters along with a massive wing to boost downforce. It makes extensive use of carbon fiber to shave off excess weight and for the same reason it boasts a stripped-out interior. It obviously looks meaner than the regular Prius and certainly more people will appreciate this design compared to the standard model.

    That looks to start and end along the old highway near Multnomah Falls, OR. Otherwise known as "Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway." But that can't be. Surely they would have gone to Crown Point or any of the falls along the road. Perhaps they weren't interested in parking lots showing other car brands.

    Very pretty scenery that makes me want to go on a road trip north.

    Likes - EV mode goes to 20MPH, up from 10 on gen 3. Fuel gauge has at least 20x more granularity. ICE restores SOC much faster. SOC holds up much longer in EV while holding speed. ICE always drops out immediately when letting off the go pedal. Faster warm up, smaller cold start penalty. Much quieter ride, better cornering. Roomier, much better seats, telescoping steering wheel!!! The Two Eco lightweight cargo cover is better than the std one because it lifts with the hatch. Trip displays for A, B, from start and ODO. ODO can be used for LMPG although it can be reset.

    It took the reviewer 198 words recounting every snarky comment of previous generations to finally reach "And now we come to generation four." Good Grief! Is The Telegraph a Murdock paper? According to Wikipedia, ". . . the paper commonly being referred to . . . as theTorygraph." Ok, now I understand.

    I get the impression the author really wanted to complain about the Prius and was reduced to a few 'plastics' and rear seat access. Worse, he reported USA gallon MPG, not the more generous Imperial gallon. At least he missed the 'too small sun visors' repeated by at least two USA reviewers. Glad this is not my paper of choice.

    If this author reviewed a Sun rise, it would start:

    Destroying the cool silence of the night, the Sun blasted the world with the infernal light of Hades and forcing the frustration of seeking solace under the comfort of covers while the birds raised a cacophony of avian complaints. . . .​

    I thought this was surely the worst and then:
    The powertrain consists of a 2ZR-FXE 1.8-liter Atkinson Cycle, DOHC, 16-valve VVT-I four-cylinder gas engine, with a Motor Generator Two — Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor — Max Voltage — DC600V with 71 hp/53 kW and 120 pound feet of torque. The Hybrid Battery Pack - NIckel-Metal Hydride —DC201.6V (168 x 1.2V cells) or Lithium-Ion — DC207.2V (56 cells) delivers 95 horsepower at 5,200 rpm along with 105 pound feet of torque at 3,600 rpm.

    Now I have to clean the red-felt, editorial marks on my screen from this English disaster. Do they not have editors any more?

    Being in the EV accelerator range means it's using only the battery instead of engine? I used the screen with the accelerator guide/ scores but then I switched over to the screen that shows a model of the car and which thing is powering what but I am gonna switch back since it's more useful if I know that being in EV range means we are using the battery power only.

    I appreciate your calling it a 'stunt drive' as that is exactly how I characterize my 1000 mile tank. In my case, I found a business park loop that replicates the 'abandoned mental hospital' park. The only difference is my stunt required dealing with the daily, cold starts over nearly three weeks and a little over a 1,000 miles.

    I appreciate your description of the 'blue' and 'aqua' bars. Since the 'aqua' appears to be the same as the existing Prius power bar, no problem there. Just the algorithm for the 'blue' bar has me curious. It appears to have both a speed and grade component . . . nice puzzle.

    Could you share the route? The reason is I can use Google Earth to see the altitude change graph. Better still, if you have a recording GPS (aka., a Nuvi) that can generate a 'kml' file, we could feed it directly into Googe Earth to see both the route, speed, and altitude changes.

    A gentle suggestion, you might add that the 'Prius c' drive was in warmer temperatures with grass growing. In contrast, the '2016 Prius' was around 43F in the dead of winter. Air temperature directly relates to air drag and my experience is anything under 55F puts a real burden on our 03 and 10 Prius.

    ps. We agree about Consumer Reports and I think you've put your finger on the problem . . . they do not understand the difference in car grades: commuter, standard, luxury, or utility.

    Absolutely great video. Makes me eager to utilize the new graphs and feedback to improve my driving. I wonder how well I'd do from Seattle to Portland in a Gen 4. My Gen 3 would get around 64 mpg in the summer, if I kept it to 60-65 and stayed in the right lane. about 45 mpg in the winter with rain.

    I got the impression you had already warmed up the car by driving it a bit before the test loop. So transmission and oil are all warmed up and ready.

    Would you please consider repeating this in the spring or summer when things are a bit warmer?
