If they are buying your 2004 for 6700 you pretty much have to take the cash. Buy another gen 2 if you want but that's a lot of money they are giving you for a 2004.

Is it? I had a plug-in as a loaner and I was appalled at the turning circle. A serious dealbreaker for me. Mind you, our streets are probably a lot narrower than the US, but I was very, VERY unpleasantly surprised...

I'd also say just repair it. But our attitude to cars is different from the US, probably due to buying and running costs.

(I feel myself annoyed any time I see KIDS driving e.g. Volvo V70's in US movies complaining about how old/crap/etc they are. If you're driving a <10 year old V70 here, you're pretty much considered a rich snob flaunting his wealth...)

Really? I hadn't noticed so I looked it up. 34.1 ft for a Gen 2 and 34.2 ft for a Gen 3. In other words, both have one of smallest turning radii of any car it's size. A Honda Fit or Ford Fiesta, one size smaller have a larger turning radius.

I know the numbers. And it might have been the tires/wheels they used, but the wife and I both immediately noticed as soon as we got behind the wheel, independent of each other. So pretty sure I didn't imagine it...

BTW, my parents Volvo 240 had a 32ft turning circle. (RWD), my own Volvo V70 is probably around 45ft (AWD and not exagerating here). Hence us taking the Prius for anything that has to do with parking in tight spots ;)

...might be a little higher, but we got no good data.

You still haven't indicated what was damaged. Makes a big difference in the decision of whether to keep the car.

Hi all, sorry for going dark for a bit. The internal part that was damaged was the reserve tank with a cost alone of $1200.

We ended up taking the money and buying a new 2015 prius. The incentives from Toyota were too hard to pass up. Looking at the old car, I could see the rust as well. Not sure how bad it really was, but made me rethink about taking the money.

I'm enjoying the new car. Still trying to figure out the new features - got a 3. I find my self arguing with with the voice recognition sine I'm so used to the old commands.

    Thanks everyone for you feedback!

It's my understanding that a salvage/rebuilt title cannot get full coverage insurance (PLEASE verify in NY) so if you have another accident that's your fault you'll end up with nothing. OK with that?
