We have a raging debate on one of our internal work e-mail lists about what this all means, and how solar customers are somehow going to get reamed by the utilities. It's not clear how the non-bypassable charges are going to be calculated. By my estimation, I'll be paying about $4 extra a month. Some people think it'll be more like $25 a month. And then there's the whole debate on how to make solar users pay their fair share for maintaining the grid. Solar users dodged a bullet with this decision, especially if you look at what happened in Nevada last year.
In Nevada it's still under debate. In the Las Vegas area no decision has been made the fight is continuing. I live in Pahrump in a different county then Las Vegas and the county regulations are different due to the fact we use a different power company.
