    Hi everyone,

a few minutes ago this link of Toyota Belgium/Luxemburg has been posted in the german Prius community:

    Prius Plug-in

According to this (french) announcement the next Gen Plug-In will arrive already in September 2016!
    Can this be confirmed?

Concerning the design, the Plug-In may resemble the second design leaked a few months ago.
Here is a cover of the japanese Cartop magazine, dealing with the PHV:

Wish I could speak French! Took it in high school many many moons ago! Will have to wait for an English version. Was interested to read what it had to say.

Just a semantic thing: I wonder if it's good to refer to the new iteration of plug-in Prius as "2nd gen"? I'm on the fence, but it seems a little confusing. Maybe 4th gen PIP?

It's the Prius 4, the Plugin version.

It should be moved to that zone. It's NOT the Prius 3.

it's confusing, because it's the second pip, but the fourth hatchback. like all things toyota, confusion reigns.

Not sure who you are referring to. But who knows what Toyota would do in September. They could do little like the Las Vegas Auto Show and just tease with pictures but very few specs. Or maybe they would also release a decent amount of specs, or maybe also give a release date, or even go on sale around then, etc.

This might have been the car I purchased, had my 2004 not been destroyed last year. I may just have to hold onto my 2012 PiP bought last year until the Gen 3/5 PiP comes out.

BTW, my biggest beefs with the Gen 2/4 PiP are the short range and the fact it kicks into ICE mode so easily. I would much prefer a PiP that is fully drivable for 25 miles/40 km or more in the summer on electric only and maybe 12 miles/20 km or more in the winter on electric only too with heat. Oh and it'd be nice if there was the option of cabin heating via electricity, when the car is plugged in charging.

P.S. There is no mention of the new PiP on the Canadian website at all.

@iplug: I answered bisco. I agree with you that the way they show the next PIP isn't clear at all.

Autonet.tw was also correct in the JC08 fuel economy later revealed for the Prius Eco version, but it over-estimated electric motor power and total system horsepower, so were some its unequivocal statements nothing but guesswork?

In its comments about the Prius PHV, it boldly declared it will get 50 km range under Japan’s exceedingly easy going JC08 cycle, which might mean 21-22 miles by the U.S. EPA.

Whether anyone wants to bet the farm this statement is correct is strictly up to them.
How Much Electric Range Does The New Toyota Prius Plug-in Need To Be Competitive?
