My insurance put the vin number in their computer and it showed like 4 or 5 models but it didn't say Four Touring. The closest thing was a 2016 TOYOTA PRIUS "C" FOUR 4D HB . Is it because the car is pretty new and it isn't in some insurance's system? So now I have insurance but looks like it's insured for the wrong car.

sounds like they came up with the model C, pkg 4 four door hatchback, which would be the wrong car. but i'm just guessing. i don't understand how a vin can have more than one option.

Document it; send a copy to insurance, and; keep a copy. You don't want them to cover collision for a cheaper car.

It may be because the car is so new. It happened to me when I got my current 2016 Volvo XC90. I got a 'First Edition' and it was one of the first vehicles to arrive in the US back in May of 2015. USAA didn't have it in their system when I called with the vin so they still insured it based on some other data as well as info they wanted from me like purchase price, options etc and updated everything once the vin did show up. It actually happened to most, if not all First Edition purchasers on the forum at the time, but it all got sorted out within a few weeks.

Like the advice from others, keep tabs on it and document everything, but hopefully it sorts out in a little bit of time. If not, keep on em'.

Yeah that was the reason, the car was so damn new it wasn't in the system yet but everything is taken care of now

Similar problem with the plug-in Prius. All of the insurance companies I called when the pre-orders just hit the dealers didn't know about this vehicle.
