The 2012 - 2015 Prius Four and Five come with "Auto-Lights". My Prius has them :)

I just bought a new 2016 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) yesterday. Today I became worried about how to surf with the SKS. This thread has been so valuable!! I confirmed that doors will not open with aluminum foil wrapped FOB (I believe car also will not start if foil wrapped FOB in in car- will test). So, I will leave foil-wrapped FOB in car and take the mechanical key with me. I may lock the foil-wrapped FOB in a lockable key safe (or just stash foil-wrapped inside). I will try to see if I can get additional mechanical keys cut (so I don't have to remove the original from the key FOB).

Just lift up the back area where the spare is and put the FOB in there and take the mechanical key out of it. It will open the driver side door. I attach it to my wetsuit...I've been doing this for three years and it works great!

Yes, this works great (probably better than what I suggested). Essentially same strategy as mine (take mechanical key into water, leave FOB in car dead spot). The 'natural' dead spot you pointed out is useful since that is where the wetsuit and kites are located etc. Thanks. I will begin using this solution!! Actually I have a rubber cargo cover above the spare tire and just pushed the FOB under there and locked/unlocked with mechanical key. Works Great!

    ........4 pages?

Just pop out the old-skool key from the fob and tie it to your shorts or wetsuit. I did it for 30+ years!
