OK, apart better fuel consumption, what's the big deal for the Gen4 Prius?

While I never sell perfectly good cars to buy newer cars, you may wish to try the new handling, to see if the is a killer feature for you.

Well, you are probably due for a new 12V battery.
The improved handling, as mentioned above, may be attractive.
But, as with -any- vehicle, replacing it will be more expensive than keeping it running.
You do get better safety, better crash worthiness, less obsolete technology, neater "things" such as the radar cruise that works to 0 km/hr, pedestrian impact detection, etc.

It's really up to you. Will you -enjoy- the new features enough to think you "got your moneys worth". Only YOU can answer that.

 

if i were driving a 2010, i would upgrade for the more comfortable seats, better center console and quieter ride. that's enough for me to drop 20k.

 

Read around the forum, there are quite a few threads with similar questions, but yes, I heard it has improved in all directions and most in the driving quality.

 

If I were gonna upgrade, it'd be to a 2015, do not like the 2016 looks, the dash, the wheels, that half the levels are missing a spare and have instead an irregular hatch deck. Our 2010 might be our last car, for that matter.

 

You'll piss off the Volt, Hyundai, Leaf advocates, and the 2016 skeptics . . . schadenfreude.

In my case, getting TSS(P) in an Two Eco will meet my requirements.

I remember that I have read that in Europe average vehicle age was 5-11, depending on country. For Croatia it's 9 years. That would make aversge us car 5.8 years old. Feasible I guess.

 

I would go for
- better sound proofing
- better handling

those two are main benefits for me, but I will wait a couple of years to see what next gen Auris will bring in Europe.

 

So happy with my new Prius Plugin advanced model Gen 3. Many of the same features as the video above. Although "lane keep assist," "pedestrian monitoring" and "blind spot monitoring" would be an upgrade. I love the "radar cruise control" and use it every time I am on the freeway.

I like the look of the Gen 3 over 4. While looking at 4 does it remind you of a Hyundai? Maybe when I see it in person I will feel different. Initially not crazy about styling.

Definitely would be unhappy with the seats shown in the video. Like the two-tone softtex in my Gen 3 plugin advanced.

I also like the large navigation screen in the Gen 3 plugin advanced. Kind of "in your face" with the slant on the bridge. In the video on the Gen 4 the navigation screen appears extremely small. Would have to see it in person for a fair comparison in size.

Have not driven Gen 4, however, in the video driver seems to be going way faster than I would be driving. For me the Prius is a relaxed comfortable driving experience.

Definitely my Gen 3 is a big improvement over my Gen 2 model in so many ways. I thought about getting a Gen 4 model, however the best value for my dollar, there are some great deals now on low mileage Gen. 3 plugin advanced models.

 

i'll never buy another car with the back up beep. i'm out.

 

One internal beep when you put it into reverse. What's the problem?

The continuous internal beep is really distracting and in my view hazardous but if they kept it in the Gen 4, surely they wouldn't have been stupid enough to remove the option to reset for a single beep.

Also the dealership will adjust the reverse beep down to 1 beep.

I only have one beep Bisco, dealer will do it.
