My CAR really killed the value of my car (smart) this last time (hehehe), so I'm excited to have a car that will appreciate as gas prices go up... kind of balancing things out. Sure, the car is worth less money while you're also saving money at the pump... but when the expenses at the pump go up, so does the value of your car! Kinda takes the sting out...
I follow the investing and commodities world pretty closely. I personally believe it will be be quite a few years before we have really high gas prices again.
Well... I've really wanted the Subaru Crosstrek with Eyesight, but can't justify spending $10K more just to have all-wheel-drive, over the used PiP Advanced I found... Even with knowledge that gas prices may not go up for quite some time, it's still cheaper to buy and operate the PiP, even if it is more expensive to insure...
Compared to my smart, Prius is $30 more, monthly. Compared to the Crosstrek, Prius is $15 more, monthly. This is with State Farm.
Have you shopped around? That is $180 more per 6 months. Seems expensive. I pay less than $40 per month with GEICO.
I wanted to bump this (for selfish reasons). I'm considering a used 2014 pip with about 50k miles. Anyone up to 200k miles? Other thoughts? I'm trying to decide on a used "regular" prius versus a used pip. Thanks!
Used 2014 PiP would be cool choice. No flat tire of course. Your profile says 2012 PiP is that true? I don't want to tell you a bunch of stuff you already know.
Nope. I want to buy a prius and I'm very close. But it made me choose a car when I opened an account here. (if there's an option not to then I missed it)
OK PiP is probably the most cargo space you'll see in a plug-in so that is great. The 3 things you give up over Gen3 Prius is no spare tire, slightly smaller gas tank, and one other small thing I forget. OK yes I remember the subfloor cubby space in the PiP's hatch is smaller (vs. 3-ft3 in regular Prius). 2012 PiP had $7500 WV tax rebate but after that model year the WV plug-in rebate was ended.
