Try rotating the steering wheel slightly (back & forth) while you remove the ignition key.

If that doesn't work, make sure that the steering wheel is turned so that the wheels are pointing straight ahead, before you turn the car off.

Even if the FOB is stuck in you should still be able to remove the metal key so you can lock your car...

I am also having the same problem. Were you able to fix it yourself?

Try spraying lightly with lubricant, I like WD 40 as it penetrates and work back and forth (lightly). That should do it. PS While your at it, I see this is a 2003, spray every hinge on the car, I'm assuming this was never done. ??

Why is this in a Gen II forum? Perhaps the mods can move it.

If the steering wheel adjust don't work, try re-shift to park.

HELP! I have the same issue. The valet put the key all the way in the ignition slot. Nothing is sticking out of the dash. How do I release the key? It seems a couple inches in and lower than the entry channel.

I don’t see an answer here, but the 2005 model locks the key fob in while the car is on. Turn it off and wait a few seconds and it will release it.
