How many false conclusions did you make on this forum? Your posts are starting to get really annoying, just saying. I think I'm not the only one.

give me a list. If you accuse someone you'd better have facts to back it up.

Gen3 has issues with long steep climbs and there is no evidence Gen4 had fixed it. And BTW asking doesn't amounts to conclusion at least in our free country maybe somewhere else.

Technically It was a question not accusation

It's the same NA 1.8 engine with marginally lower peak power but marginally higher torque curve, what do you think the performance will be like? The best you can expect on long steep climbs is 3,500 rpm instead of 4,000 and better sound proofing, not enough?

Weight difference is minimal and no one will notice it.

it is a lot faster than Prius c though, changes from G3 are tiny in overall acceleration. Not sure if you will notice it at all at speed.

p.s. Eco model is actually lighter than G3, right? So if you want faster and more economical Prius, with SKS, LED headlights and 6.1" display, you can get Eco and not miss much.

so what did they do with all the space where the battery used to be, suspension?

Yes. A double wishbone suspension takes up more space than a torsion beam. It's also heavier. (So offsetting the weight reduction from TNGA)

    That's not so good !
The current model allready has more than enough power in the 0-60 km/h range,it would have been wiser to give the new extra boost of the battery to the 80-120 km/h speed range .
0-50 or 0-100 speed time isn't all that important, but if you misjudge a situation while overtaking somebody,a faster 80-120 acceleration time could be life saving !

What is the 80-120 km/h time for the Gen 3?
    merged
And, on top of this, trunk volume is larger.

It was testet with 8.0 Seconds by one car magazine, but I guess it alll depends on the charge of the battery .
All in all I guess its about the same !
Didn't Toyota say the new batterys have up to 28 % more power output ?
So where does that extra output come in to play ?
I really don't need it to go from traffic light to traffic light as fast as I can and as I said, gen. 3 allready hat enough power in urban driving conditions !

They said 28% more regenerating power but I assume the delivery power is also enhanced. 0-30 MPH time is improved since battery can handle higher load demands.

Okay I probably got that wrong, but they did say the new batterys have more power !

Engine torque is not increased, but torque peak has been brought down to lower RPM(400 RPM down). So when engine RPM is brought down at a given vehicle speed, so is the HP output provided. Adding to that, the Motor HP as well Torque both were brought down.

At low speed they were able to improve accelerating from 0-30 with some gearing, but as the speed increases, they would not able to keep up as power is reduced.

Think about, 10.6 Sec 0-100kph as per Toyota, means it is already slower(vs 9.8-10.2 Gen 3), but as speed increases/load increases, it gets even worse. Even if 0-60 remains same, we know 0-30 is faster, means 30-60 is definitely slower. Think about what happens as speed increases, it becomes dog slow for acceleration.

    To put the records straight:
0-100 km/h time is about the same (10.6 vs. 10.4 sec. per Toyota EU).
Overtaking 80-120 km/h time about the same (8.3sec. Gen 4 per Toyota vs. 8+ third parties Gen 3).
0-30 MPH time improved (by Danny).

Any numbers you were able to gather regarding in gear acceleration, 50-70MPH for highway merging and overtaking? How does it compare to Gen 3.

Local driving is not a problem with any generation as per my experience. It is the merges on to highway from short ramps, and merges into fast moving HOV lane, and of course overtaking.

I am not sure I understood your question.
80-120 km/h is 50-75 MPH, do you insist on 70?

Never mind, I got it(80-120)... Basically it means, it is slower than Gen 3 as expected.
FYI, looking thru a Gen 3 Edmunds review compared to Insight, here is the quote

There's also a big gap between the 0-60-mph times of these hybrid hatchbacks, as the Prius gets to 60 mph from a standstill in 10.1 seconds (or 9.7 seconds with 1 foot of rollout as on a drag strip), while the Insight needs 10.9 seconds (or 10.5 seconds with 1 foot of rollout).

As evidence of the Honda's fighting spirit, though, it narrows the gap by the quarter-mile mark. The Prius goes through in 17.3 seconds at 79.7 mph, while the Insight is there in 17.9 seconds at 78.2 mph.

Not sure Toyota number is with 1 foot rollout or not.

Don't overlook the fact that front legroom increased. So, overall is really 1.9".

It still puts it below Prius C, which isn't adequate for carrying 3 adults for anything over short trip distance.

I finally found some info thats relatable - official number for CT200h is 9.0s for 80-120kmh... so new Prius is nicely faster in overtaking speed.
