it's interesting. i suppose they figure people wanting the higher mpg's won't mind the ride difference.

 

We do not have Toyota's correlation for weight vs. MPG, but I have posted GM's approximation equation, which I got from the Chevy Volt or Cruze boards I think. I agree +4 MPG is excessive for 70-lbs as we understand it.

I assumed the 15-inch tires were part if it. Also note I believe these are not EPA numbers yet. Nor are they the real McCoy (Fuelly) numbers. I think somebody said the EPA technique is overly sensitive to vehicle weight, so that could explain something (as Toyota is attempting to predict EPA results).

 

Yes I think they did. It's mentioned in Danny's second (of 3) videos, discussing the car with the Toyota rep. They FINALLY pop the hood for a look, and as anticipated the 12 volt battery's in there, near left fender. The rep mentions something about the battery being bigger/more capacity, and it looks to have conventional posts.

The comment in regards to Volt, 2016 Prius will be cleaner than the 2016 Volt using grid-mix electricity. You are also looking at a midsize and a compact. Volt doesn't have the rear independent suspension.

I wish these reviewers would learn how to do their job properly .
If that would be true Priuschat Team would have noticed that or not ?

The way I understood it so far,is that the front seats slide back way further then in previous gen 3. but that doesn't mean the leg room in the back has decreased and especially not by a enormous amount of 2 1/2 inches !
That would be a huge decrease !
Do you really think Toyota made the car longer and at the same time ruined the interior space ?
Not by a long shot !
As I said,these journalists and reviewers should learn to get their facts right before they put them out to the world !

Yes, unfortunately that is true. One of the thread has all comparisons. Total outside Length is increased at the same time inside passenger size is decreased. The combined leg space is also less, so is head room in the back. Not only that, despite car is only 20mm lower than previous gen, the seat is lowered by 59mm(close 2 1/2 inch). But 20mm lower stance is coming from actual sacrifice in ground clearance.

In effect, the increased the length and width of the car, but reduced the passenger space, and reduced the comfort of getting in and out of the car, increased the weight(however little may be), but kept talking about Toyota logo being as low as FR-S!!? Really?

Real metrics,
1. Actual comparative power to G3 ( in whatever standard they claimed, both in same standard)
2. Weight distribution front to rear ( I bet new car is more front biased because, battery is moved to all the way front of the car, and traction battery is moved forward from being directly on rear wheels to in front of rear wheels).
3. Actual CG change for whole car ( if not lowered where it would be compared to G3).
4. Actual 0-60, and 50-70 timings... I read somewhere high end power is very weak potentially making this even dangerous for highway overtaking and merging.

We asked Danny about this metrics, not sure what happened, none of that info is provided. As usual as Toyota keep hiding if information if not favorable (like combined HP).

 

The Prius allways has been known for it's good interior space and here goes Toyota and ruins their reputation in gen. 4 ?
2.5 inches,that would mean more than 6 cm and that would mean there's hardly any leg room left !
