Did you see the vortex generators?

On the second video:
It looks like he initially called the MG1 position, MG2. Minor faux but I know what he was trying to say.

On the third video:
Warm-up has multiple phases: (1) catalytic converter light-off, ~45-55 seconds; (2) to 40C when ICE can stop if not moving and heater off, and (3) 55C when ICE can stop even with heater running. I would like to see something specific about the warm-up phases from Toyota but not too worried . . . we can measure it with a test article. However, is the 'blue light' tagged to one of these transition phases instead of the funky hard-coded value it currently uses?

How far back do the front seats go? On long drives, my wife likes to nap out and a horizontal front seat to rear would be a blessing.

On backup detection, does it work for curbs or just walls?

Does pedestrian detection cover the crosswalks in a turn?

If the 0-30 mph is faster than Gen III, but 0-60 is the same, that must mean that the 30-60 is slower. That could be trouble.
How is the passing ability on the highway when driving at 65 or 70 mph?

 

The only thing I find missing so far is a good view of the hatch floor/folded rear seat profile with/without the spare or even just a properly lit view of the hatch floor. Some proper lighting needs to be done for those videos.

Bob, I suspect the main reason it's hard to find a front seat that will recline nicely is injury prevention. If the car is involved in an accident while the passenger is reclined they could be ejected from the belt (slide under). Not good!

With the exception of the dark view of the cargo area, I thought the videos were well done and I'm more inclined now to consider upgrading in 2017-2018. I don't like the new steering wheel, but it's just a wheel. I don't like the white accents, but I heard there is an overlay available, though I can probably get used to the white. I'm still not sold on the dash, but it does look functional, my wife would miss the upper box. I'm most impressed with what they've done under the skin, sounds like some useful improvements for handling, comfort and noise reduction, but proof will be in a personal test drive.

 

insert piece to cover the white tray area coming as an accessory!!! finally, toyota gives us some aftermarket type off accessory, excellent.

So, the reason we lost the large, dual glove boxes was "design". As if I didn't have enough reasons to hate "fashion" and "design" in the first place.

When form takes priority over function, the result is always a failure.

Besides, the interior design, especially of the shifter location and the white accents, is just plain ugly.

 

decontenting is a standard toyota strategy. your best bet is to look for a completely new model car, it will have all the bells and whistles until the second gen comes out.

It's not the gen. 4 Prius because that has two independant 4.2 inch screens and is it not the Mirai !
The vehicle shape seen here reminds me a bit of the NS4 !

Yes that's what it's supposed to be,but if you look closley you can see its ether the gen. 4. Prius displays nor the ones of the Mirai .
New Prius has two separate 4.2 inch displays whereas on the screenshot you see one big single display .
It is clearly not the MFD of the new gen. 4 Prius which is shown here !

 

Well in that case I would have rather had the Prototyp instead of a gap between the displays,but in my opinion we are looking at the accidently published Prius plug-in or maybe the rumored Prius Prime MFD !
I can't help myself, but the shape of the vehicle in the display does indeed remind me of the NS4 !

I agree....I like the layout of my 2010 better, and my original 2004 the best....seems like they are going 'backwards' in cabin design, even thought they are improving the overall technology with each generation.
I am particularly sorry to hear they are eliminating the spare tires in the Touring models....that is a deal killer for me....I wouldn't think of driving on a road trip without a spare....

 

The bottom line the 4th generation Prius SUCKS!!! big time

 

why? i can't wait to get mine.
