probably not, sounds like you just head out simply for the joy of driving and come back home

This morning I saw a couple of Google's new self-driving BEV prototype cars on the road for the first time. Within a span of 5 minutes I saw an additional 3 of the other "conventional" modified Lexus self-drivers. I'm used to seeing the older prototypes occasionally around Silicon Valley but never this many cars over this short of a time.

It's really great seeing all of the production plugins on the road now as well. Lots of Teslas, LEAFs, Volts, Prius Plugins, Fiat 500e and a scattering of others. This is what the future looks like.

For example, note the Volt that just randomly happens to drive by in this short video clip of the self-driving Google BEVs that I took this morning:

    Thanks for posting, Jeff!

I wonder if they use several together at the same time for the purposes of seeing if each will handle similar situations in the same way.

I watched the video maybe because Bob Lutz was there, always has something interesting to say, but nothing new came up in the discussion.

Everyone should watch the TedTalks on Chris Urmson showing what a driverless car sees. Incredible. I'm ready for one in my driveway. I still enjoy driving sometime but not all of the time.

Yes, but thanks to autonomous cars you will still be able to sit in the "driver's seat" and pretend. That's a hell of a lot better than waiting around for a taxi or riding the bus.
