I just happened to park my 2014 Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) next to a 2015 model at the mall. I notice the 2015 rear bumper has the black skirt add on on top of the same bumper, does anyone have info for the cost and part number? Modellista or TRD ones costs a fortune to ship.
No. Not that one. its lower black panel that extend from lower side right to lower side left, closer to the rear reflector and exhaust. Its a rear bumper skirt
He's talking about the black plastic piece on the bottom of the rear bumper on the new 2015; it wasn't there on pre-2015 models. I unfortunately can't help the OP getting something similar aftermarket for 2012-14 models as I don't get into modding much. Here's two pics showing what he is talking about on the 2015 minor refresh Prius v:
that piece is fitted for the new 2015. On the inside there is about 10-15 plastic tabs that clicks together with the bumper. Not sure how you can mold it to fit the 2014 as the 2015 has changed their design. I also think the 2015 bumper will fit the older years but can't confirm that. This is just base on my experience when shopping for a new bumper for my 2015 (someone ding it). Best to wait it out and buy a use bumper as a whole most likely it will come together.
I'd have to assume that the bumper wrap itself will have a different cut. So you'd expect to need to replace the entire wrap plus the strange black valance.
I was inspecting it closely and its an add on, the base bumper it self is the same. There were several clips on the bottom. I was thinking that the black piece may be secured using 3m molding tape or some sort (on the top side). Its a bummer tho if its cant be purchased separately.
I did research, this lower is called "Spoiler,. RR no. 1" its part number 76891-47040. It comes with top rubber strip. You need to cut small 13 slots about 1/2 inch on the rear bumper, then put the clip part number 75392-35220 (x13 top flat white clips), and secure the lower with 52161-02020 (x8 lower round tab black clips). The part above can be purchased separately. Toyota listed as separate part in fact. This does not come cheap and toyota actually already have this part available on 2014 prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon)(from the part catalog) despite we're seeing toyota shipping it with 2015 model. This fits on existing bumper cover as I do not see any difference upon visual inspection. (Someone can confirm on this and cross the part number on rear bumper cover)
I do not know. It does precisely "nothing", and high up like that will show residue from every time you wax the rear bumper. I wouldn't spend money on it, completely ornamental.
Are you sure it's the 2015 model that has that bumper?I own a 2015 that I bought in July and it doesn't have the bumper,I have a Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) two I'm guessing the three and four have it but not the two or may you were looking at a 2016 model.
It should be on 2015 prius v as far as I know. Since none of a friend of mine has prius v two, I cant confirm.. .Its also possible that the rear bumper may had been replaced, if you bought it used.
I bought the car brand new at a Toyota Dealership unless the bumper was dismounted by the dealer and resold to a private buyer.
You may want to ask your sales person, those rear skirt is not cheap. its 300-400 ish. If it should be included that you been short changed.
From looking right on Toyota's website and doing some research it would seem the refreshed Prius v Two does not have this piece on the bottom of the rear bumper. Three, Four and Five does.
A pair of deeper, longer side strakes and nothing in the middle would possibly make it more functional as a diffuser. As it is, purely cosmetic.
I can confirm that the 2015 Prius v Two does not have that lower black piece. I bought a Two, with 16 miles on the odo. I've put about 1200 miles on it since then, I just looked and there is no black piece.
