GM paidoff those loans 6 years ago. Today's advertising comes from the corporation's pocket, not the taxpayers.

that's only because through bankruptcy, they were able to shed tens of billions of dollars in toxic waste cleanup from all the numerous sites that they abandoned - literally hundreds of acres, now on the Superfund. Please excuse the pancakes - it's just that that issue galls me to no end.

Tesla has no advertising. They do pr, which is a lot less expensive. That is what toyota did with the prius at first.

The internet adverstising that you think is from tesla, is really from tesla owners and fans that make their own. Its amazing that fan ads are so much better than the ones toyota and chevy pay for.

Never have seen one in Florida. However, when in Colorado, they were quite common. Looks like Boston is not a targeted market just as FL is not either.

Not that hard to do. The best ads seem to be from VW, and that's about the only good thing from them.

Yep, they sure did, IIRC, the fiqure of $13 billion was forgivened by the Treasury Dept. This allowed Government Motors to wipe the "slate" clean - at taxpayers' expense. Also screwed the stockholders and also abandoned their obligation to clean up their toxic waste sites.

What a great company aand a world class leader - NOT!!!

Former 2002 Prius owner, 2011 Volt owner here. To me this ad is far better than the ones GM used for the first gen. They did an awful job of advertising the Volt and how it worked. At this point despite having owned both cars I'd say Toyota is now the company being way too conservative with their product. The upcoming PIP has a range of 35 miles, which is the old Volt's range. The Volt is now what the Prius was 10 years ago. IMHO the new Volt has a potential to really disrupt the market. I've already seen 5-6 of the new ones and the cars have only been out there for a month. Some owners are now claiming 60 or more miles on a charge which is borderline full EV range.

Perhaps in the end this is a good thing. If the Volt causes the disruption I suspect it will perhaps Toyota will up their game and take more risks with their drivetrain development. I admire Toyota as a company and most of my family still own nothing' but Toyotas. I myself still own a Toyota Tacoma I bought 20 years ago. But they will need to be more aggressive with their engineering. If that means more competition among the automakers to more rapidly develop Plugin hybrids and full EVs then so much the better for the consumer who wants the product cheaper, faster and better.

The goal is mainstream sales, replacing traditional vehicles with profitable & affordable low-emission high-efficiency choices.
