My wife has had two RAV4s in the recent past.
She named the first one "Ruby" for red color and rather large size.
The next was her conveyance. So instead of that we called her "Connie". She was an AWD RAV4 that I got to use the AWD about twice. Yes, it worked well nut the mileage was always 22 mpg. Sunny and hot or snowing and fridgid, it never changed. I think I saw 25 mpg going to Florida once. That was at 55 mph and creeping through Atlanta during the day.

To name a vehicle, you have to have a feel of what the car's personality is like. You know how it acts you know its needs. You habe to interpret your cars voice. They "speak", you just have to be perceptive enough to know what its saying.

You could call her Cher, she looks good for her age, too!

All this name stuff just reminded me of my old "CB" handle. "Silver Rider". Interesting fact, the Prius I drive today is Silver...

    Go figure.

Exactly...I'm waiting for the feeling. Still fun to hear the names everyone comes up with. So far car feels quite graceful inside and out.

This comment was referring back to your previous post. I'm sure Cher has probably had some graceful moments too.

I now remember why I had that handle (Silver Rider). At that time, I was young, dumb, and had a rich person to cosign a loan for me. What did I buy?

1976 Ford Elite. Very similar to the one pictured below. First new car I ever bought.

    elite.jpeg

Back then they built cars like tanks. And they drank the gas too!

Car was silver on the outside. Had a maroon vinyl roof on it, and matching maroon interior. Not cloth, and not leather either. Sort of vinyl back then I think. Nice riding highway car. Hard to park and had a very long front end.

Also had a hot rod Camaro at one point, and a gas guzzling Pontiac Grand Ville too! Now that was a boat!

    Yes, No Regrets!

I remember the standard vinyl seats. Fried yourself in the summer. Froze yourself in the winter.

Don't warm up the Prius. Boot up & go. If you turn on the climate control before the car is warmed up the ICE will run. You can buy some pipe insulation to block the grill to shorten the time it takes for the engine to get warm.

As mentioned, the car will suggest the name. You just need to listen. Give it time. My 2010 is 88 Yankee from the license plate.

I never liked male names for capital ships but they seem to work for smaller ships and freighters.

I need to get my Prius washed. It seems I have let her get dusty and dirty all over. Construction should be part of Indiana and Indianapolis it never stops. Zoey just keeps on going, she needs a fuel up, too. Do you guys still wax your Prii? I didn't do it last year but plan on doing it this year, before winter hits.

Yup, twice a year, once at the beginning of the winter, and again after the salt-season (see pics in album )

You should be able to use the arrow-buttons at the top right of the picture to navigate through the album. It seems that the whole "photo gallery" thing has changed in the past year, and I (for one) find the new look more confusing and awkward than it used to be. (…moan, moan, moan… :()

I hope the heat kicks in fairly quickly. The one thing I didn't research. Loved my old Saab for that reason. I really should be living back in CA but stuck here in New England until who knows when. Yes, I'm a wimp when it comes to getting into a cold car.

Don't get me wrong...I love New England...just don't care for winter weather.

I still wash & wax the car.

You'll get more heat sooner from the electric heater. Blocking the grill helps to retain the generated heat inside the engine compartment and reduces the cold air flowing in resulting in more warm cabin air sooner and less time the engine is running just to warm itself and to run the climate control.

At a stop when the engine is still cold turning the climate control on will cause it to spin up. It'll take a few minutes of running time to get coolant temp over 150F so you'll get heat without the high fuel economy hit. Remember, sitting doesn't count because the engine isn't running and is cooling down.

The only time the car idles is when I have to remove snow & ice. The engine is running to power the defrosters. By the time I'm done, it's like a sauna inside.

Set the climate control to AUTO adjusting the temp to the lowest you can stand for heat and the highest for air conditioning. The system is more efficient than you'll expect so you shouldn't need extreme temps.

    Loving my smart keys!
    Loving my headlights!
    Loving my speakers!
    Loving my comfortable seats!
Sounds like I'm going to love the heat too!

    A perfectly conservative car and color for a woman with the nickname "M" after James Bond's "M" played by Judi Dench. My friend the negotiator came up with that. : }

    Loving my Prius!!!

So grateful for your support and no regrets!

Daisy? Those HID's are great. You don't need a regular key, the sound is fantastic, and the seats are very comfortable.

We have had a cold snap here and this A.M. I put the heat on hot ( it was 36 to 38 degrees depending on who you believe). I had driven about a quarter to half a mile when my daughter told me to cool it down it was too hot for her.

Great name! I love Dame Judi! (I have a BBC recording of her (and Joss Ackland) reading poetry inspired by or about cats - "Concerning Cats" - wonderful stuff!) - Please keep us all updated w.r.t. your adventures with "M"!!!

Wil, actually my friend calls me "M" : } but I had this thought today of calling my new car "M" too. I realize my previous post could be interpreted both ways. I'll have to see if I can find that recording.

Well, I used bits of it in a programme which I did in another life (mid-1980s), when I volunteered at WICN (Worcester). Later, it found its way onto a cassette (who they?) from the master-tape I made, eventually ending up on a CD. I'll try to make you a copy, I'm certain the master is somewhere in a box down in ChuggPig's garage!
