    Looks like the lithium Ion battery is only 745.92 Wh. 56 cells, 3.7v, 3.6 Ah

    Following up to my post #56...

    The NiMH battery pack specification is as follows;
    168 cells : 1.2V
    6 cells/module : 7.2V
    28 modules/pack : 201.6V
    6.5 Ah
    total 1310.4 Wh
    these numbers are as same as Gen2 and Gen3, but they are all new design.

    edit:
    pack volume: Gen4 35.5 liter Gen3 39.4 liter
    pack weight: Gen4 40.3 kg Gen3 41.3 kg

    The Li-ion battery pack specification is as follows;
    56 cells : 3.7V
    28 cells/stack : 103.6V
    2 stacks/pack : 207.2V
    3.6 Ah
    total 745.92 Wh

    edit:
    pack volume: 30.5 liter
    pack weight: 24.5 kg which is 15.8 kg lighter than NiMH pack

    By the way, the Li-ion in the 7 seat Prius α (JP) and Prius+ (EU), is ...
    56 cells : 3.7V
    28 cells/stack : 103.6V
    2 stacks/pack : 207.2V
    5.0 Ah
    total 1036 Wh

    For me, 0-60 mph and 0 -1/4 mile are largely irrelevant. They are already OK and rarely limit what I want to do

    0-60 ft and instantaneous precise response to throttle changes are however a big deal. They affect me every time I drive the car.

    It sounds to me that Toyota are moving in the right direction.

    Many years back, just coming off the second narrows south side, and heading up the hill on Hastings, my wife says to me: " How about we buy some CD's at A&B?". Of course I knew exactly what she meant, but it kinda cracked me up.

    With consulting engineering firms I've worked with, the standards typically included a list of acceptable abbreviations and acronyms, and their meanings. Good idea, kept everyone in the office, and the recipients of our drawings, in the know.

    Does anyone know if there will be an automatic transmission fluid dipstick this time? I'm assuming not..but hoping there will be!

    I'm ok with it. Our Honda's always had transmission dipsticks, but I now I'm ok with just a fill and drain bolt. As long as there's no leakage and you filled it correctly, you're good.

    That is too bad...would have been nice to have it. I suppose they are going to claim 'lifetime' transmission fluid again. If so, that is unfortunate.

    There was weight savings. They just spent it on better suspensions, noise isolation, seats, interior materials, etc.

    Do I see only one coolant?

    At least it's semi-easy to do. My nearby dealership always has the fluid and washers available, quite reasonable. Yeah, the main issue seems to be Toyota's adamant policy that it's "lifetime", leads to a lot of pushback from service departments.

    I am seeing something new at Green car reports, it says new Car is shorter, not longer than Gen 3. (Which contradicts what we saw until now). Not sure, if this some kind of typo(vs 4550).

    "The 2016 Prius will have a length of 4,450 millimeters (175.1 inches), width of 1,760 mm (69.2), and height of 1,470 mm (57.8 inches, E-Four models will ride slightly higher), according to Toyota."

    That makes the new Prius slightly shorter, wider, and lower than the outgoing model.

    The current HSD isn't like a traditional automatic in operation, but like a manual. For the fluid, that means it is only has to work as a lubricant and heat transfer medium, and doesn't have any hydraulic fluid duties as in an automatic. Unless the new HSD has a clutch in there somewhere. Traditionally, manual transmissions don't have a dipstick.

    Many true automatics don't seem to get a dipstick now either. With improved fluids and transmission controls, the service interval has been extended. The trannies are also sealed up tighter than before. There is simply less places, counting the missing dip stick) for the fluid to escape from than in the case of the motor oil. Changing the fluid on an automatic was once an annual thing, but now that it is once every 3 at soonest. So the ease of a dipstick check is no longer required, and more so with less people bothering to do such messy work themselves.

    What I'm seeing appears to be a link to an article which in turn links to another article dated 25 Nov 2013 which says that a Toyota Exec spoke about the possible (future) effects of TNGA across their line including potential weight savings of up to 20%.

    Interesting but naturally no kind of statement or commitment about what the weight of a future Prius will be 2 years later following a complete redesign, the details of which could not even be known at that time.

    Green car reports screwed up. They transposed numbers. The correct length is not 4,450 mm, it is 4,540 mm (178.74 inches)
