BaylorBob, after you drive 20 miles on EV, like to the tennis club, can you take a picture of the screen right after you shut off the car? The screen like you see in my signature below. That's the only way to convince these non-believers. :)

Some of us have been for years. This is far from anything new. There are scores of threads discussing the very same thing... What do you suggest that's different?

The point of a plug-in hybrid is to augment, not replace. It's not a short-range EV. Errand running into town is great. Most stores are 2 to 3 miles away. That's easy achievable with just electricity. But if the engine starts, what difference does it make? You still take advantage of plug-supplied electricity. The bigger battery enables the engine to use less gas by running at a lower RPM.

As for your concern about only getting 14 some miles of EV. Who ever said you'd get more? The official rating certainly didn't. The advertisements didn't. The best I have ever experienced over the past 3.5 is 17 miles. That was an ideal condition situation. I started with 13 and continue to get that after 67,000 miles.

No Joke. Here is my latest. 21.6 EV Mileage. Just went into Garage and shot this photo.

Let me ask you a Question? If I posted EV Mileage of 14, 15 or even 16 would you say "It's a Joke"

Instead of Everybody Criticizing me Why Don't You Try What I Did. Try it for a Month. You Will Probably See an Improvement in EV Distance within 2 or 3 Days but it took me a Full Month to get up to my Highest so far, 21.7

Oh, and by the way I have only purchased Gas ONCE in the Past 30 days because I took a 60 Mile Round trip. Otherwise my Daily Driving, 7 Days per week is Generally less than 20 Miles, if that makes a difference. AND THE GAS MOTOR NEVER COMES ON. It DID for the 60 Mile Round Trip.

From the First Day I Took my Car home from the Dealer and Plugged it in I Was Getting between 18 and 21 EVERY DAY. Until I Took it in for 5000 Mile Service. Please Read my Posts. All The Info is in them.

The MOTOR HAS NEVER COME ON UNTIL AFTER THE EV LIGHT GOES OUT. AND MOST IMPORTANT, BEFORE I STARTED USING THE POWER MODE, WHEN I WAS GETTING THE 18-20 I ONLY DROVE IN ECON MODE. I NEVER EVER USED THE POWER MODE.

THE MOTOR DOES NOT COME ON IN THE ECON MODE, ISN'T THAT CORRECT? So if I was in Econ Mode and Getting between 18 and 20 How is that Possible?

We all have had Lemon Products. Cars, TV's or Whatever. Maybe I just happened to Get the Opposite of a Lemon, A SUPER GOOD Prius Plug In. I Don't care How I got it. I just Wanted to Get Back the EV mileage I had from January 2014 when I got the Car until I Lost it during the 5,000 mile service in September of 2014. I Have it Now thru the Method I Described. End of Story.

    Thanks

That's incorrect. The system will start the engine if it's needed, regardless of mode selected.

We truly don't know what you got, because all you've shown so far is estimated range, not actual.

20 requires ideal conditions. That's possible, but not likely for most owners. It's certainly not part of any official or advertised range either.

The motor can come on in any mode. It's easy to have the display show 20 miles EV. Just drive downhill in EV. I've done this before. Show us the consumption screen the next time you get to the tennis club. As Bisco said, if the rest of us get 9-15 EV miles, we're going to be skeptical if you say you get 20. The pictures you've shown does not prove what you say. It only supports it, you'll need more.

okay, it's on! I am going to do this whilst the PiP is in my command (all next week, wife out of town). I'll charge every evening (and get my usual 10 ish miles by AM), put it in power mode, and head to work 3.5 miles away. I will be doing right at 7 miles total for each day next week. Then repeat for the next day. Can't wait for my EV miles to increase beyond my wildest dreams! the commute i have is 35-50 MPH 4 lane surface street with several stoplights that usually can be timed pretty well to avoid complete stops. Wish me luck. Weather is forecast to be 70s F and partly sunny. Stay tuned...

Do you want me to take picture of the EV Distance Remaining, such as 1 Mile or? I will be happy to do it, but I'm confused as to exactly what it is you want me to take picture of. Thanks

Yes. The Person whom I have been in Contact with at Toyota Headquarters in Torrance gave me the Link to this Web Site, said it was a Great Place for Prius Owners to talk and Told me to Post my Results here. He said Toyota Monitors the Site. (For all I know they Own it). This was about 2 to 4 months ago but I waited until now because it looks like I have reached my Max EV Mileage. Thanks

Look at the picture at the bottom of my post. It's a picture of the upper screen after you shut off the car and stays on for about 30 seconds so you have to be quick with a camera. It shows the Time, Distance, and Consumpt. Proof of what you say is if it shows more than 18 EV miles with 999 Consumpt.
