@BaylorBob can you tell us more about your driving:
What is your daily or regular trip length and details?
What is your actual EV distance?

    Adding to my post above:
What is your driving style? are you first using the available EV miles every trip? Or maybe just stepping on it going frequently to the 'power' zone while still having EV miles to use?

I'm on my 2nd Prius. The 1st was a 2010 Gas Hybrid. My Current Prius is a 2014 Plug-In Hybrid. I bought this car New in January 2014. Since Day One I was getting between 18 and 21.5 EV Distance. Never Changed. Always Consistently in this Range.

Approximately September 2014 I took my Car to Toyota for 5,000 Service. When I picked it up it showed an EV Range of 14.5. OK, Fine. The Toyota Dealer is 3 Miles from my House and maybe they Test Drove it. I Take it home and Plug it in as I Usually do and from that Day Forward I Never Got Back to the Higher Numbers I posted above. I'm Getting 14.5 every day. Not 15, but 14.5.

I go back to Toyota and they say they set the Car Back to Factory Resets during the 5,000 service and I'm Lucky to be getting 14.5. I Raise hell and they keep the car overnight and run tests on the Battery. I get a Copy of these Tests, about 4 Pages of Technical Mumbo Jumbo.

I Call Toyota Headquarters in Torrance CA and they ask If I Went to the Dealer and had any Battery Tests Done. I say Yes, and I Have the Papers the Dealer gave me which they Request I email them.

The Toyota Guy in Torrance Headquarters Emails the Papers to an Electrical Engineer at Toyota Headquarters in Japan. He Tells me to wait two weeks and he will have a Reply from Toyota Japan.

About Two weeks Later I get the Reply that "I'm Lucky to be getting 14.5 as the Car is Rated by the EPA at 11 Miles on EV.

I Don't Believe this BS because I Know that my Car got 18.5 to 21.5 for 9 Months from the Time I Bought it until the Time I took it to the Dealer for the 5,000 service.

After Months of Emails Back and Forth to Toyota Headquarters in Torrance I am given more BS that the Lower EV Mileage probably caused by Cold Temperature. What a Crock. I Live in Southern CA about 30 Miles south of Toyota Headquarters in Torrance and in September 2014 the Temperatures were above 80 degrees and many days between that time and September 2015 we had many days where the Temperature was 90 Degrees Fahrenheit or More for 10 days in a row or more!.

Well I'm going to tell you I solved the Problem, Without Toyota's "Help". It's a Very Simple Answer. Drive with your Car both in EV Mode AND POWER MODE. Keep Doing This Every Day. Within a Month, Your EV Mileage will Increase by 5 to 10 Miles per EV Charge. Of Course you Must Plug your Car in Every Night and Let it Charge for 3 Hours, which is Standard. Now I know some of you may be Skeptical and think I'm full of crap. Check out the Two Files I uploaded and attached to this Post. One taken Last Week and the other Today. If you have any questions, I Will be Happy to Respond. By the Way you notice in the pics I put a Piece of Blue Painters tape on the Dash with the Word "POWER". This is to Remind me to Put the Car in Power Mode when I pull out of my Garage.

no offense bob, but i think you are misunderstanding the ev range indicator.;) we're not that interested in what it shows, but very interested in how many miles you can drive in ev, without your engine ever coming on. not downhill.:p

Look at my Pictures of the EV Distance. 21 and 21.7. I Could post more but Why? My Driving Style is in the City. 80 Percent Streets and 20 Percent Freeway. In learning how to Increase my Mileage I first tried driving slow and easy in Power Mode. That did not Work. I Found the Best way is to Floor the Car from Every Signal and Stop Sign and to Apply the Brakes Hard every Chance I get.

My Tennis Club is exactly 20 Miles from my House. I can Now Get there ON EV and POWER. Yesterday I drove to a Restaurant I like for Lunch. Then I went shopping at the Home Depot about 6 miles from the Restaurant. Then I Came Home, Dropped off everything and drove an additional 4 Miles East to the Gym. Then after the Gym I drove home. Total Miles Driven was around 20. I still was on EV & Power, with 1 mile to spare.

Speed Limit on all the Streets I drove on the Trip Yesterday was 45 mph in most places with about 2 miles at 55mph. I was Doing the Speed limit as much as Possible. As I said the Faster I go using Power Mode and The More I Apply my Brakes the Higher My EV Mileage gets. I have been stuck at the 20 to 21.7 Range for the Past Month. There Must be a Limit. I'm Guessing it's 22. If I get there I will Post a Picture of it. In the Meantime as Long as I drive less than 21 Miles Per Day, which is what I do 90 Percent of the Time, I am doing it on Electricity. Last Time I Bought Gas was about a Month Ago.

For anyone that thinks this is BS look at the Pictures I Posted!

because that's not your ev distance. to prove how far you can go on ev, you'd have to route out a map and show us ev/hv ratio and average speed. i can go 21 miles on ev, but not in normal driving.
no one here can go that far without spoofing the system. the pics are meaningless.

I am Driving the Distance Showing in my EV which I check by setting my Trip Odometer A or B at Zero when I leave the House. They Match. When the EV says I have 1 Mile to go or 5 Miles to go or whatever, the Odometer matches up with the Miles I Drove in EV WITHOUT THE MOTOR COMING ON AND NO DOWNHILL DRIVING. ALL FLAT!

Believe me I know what I am doing. This has become an obsession with me since September 2014. Remember I said in my Original Post I was getting 18 to 20 on EV UNTIL TOYOTA Screwed it up with the 5,000 Service. So I Knew what I was getting and I Wanted it Back. I Don't Like Buying Gasoline!!!! Toyota has seen the Pictures of my Dashboard with the 21 EV. They are Amazed just Like I was when I figured out how to get it back.

One thing to Remember - ALWAYS DRIVE IN POWER MODE. So When the EV Mileage RUNS OUT continue to Drive in POWER MODE, this is How the EV increases. 95 Percent of my Driving is Less than 30 Miles per day. So I only have to keep it in Power mode for a Maximum of 10 or so Additional Miles. But If I take a Trip, like to Los Angeles and Back, about 150 Miles Round Trip after the EV Runs Out I will either keep it in Power Mode or drop it down to ECON Mode to save Gas. It all depends on my mood and the Traffic on the Freeway.

    Thanks for the Response.

This is exactly how you can use the Prius Plug In as a mobile electricity production plant.

Flooring the car makes the gas engine work strongly; you burn a lot of gas to fill your battery during the strong braking that is inevitable after flooring. But then you cannot call the driving EV anymore. It is an indirect way of driving on gas (with efficiency loss due to all the transitions gas -> motion -> electricity -> chemical storage -> electricity -> motion).

Was the gas engine off all the time? Or did you use the gas engine at traffic lights like BaylorBob's flooring, or when climbing hills?

Also the average speed is a very important factor. Was it below 20 mph?

Instead of Everybody Criticizing me Why Don't You Try What I Did. Try it for a Month. You Will Probably See an Improvement in EV Distance within 2 or 3 Days but it took me a Full Month to get up to my Highest so far, 21.7

    LOL.
I have the Stickers on my Car that allow me to travel in the Carpool Lanes by myself, without a Passenger. I have people asking to buy my car all the time because of the Stickers. Very Rare. I Believe CA only gives out 7500 per year and the Prius, so I'm told, is #1 Selling car in CA. Car Currently has about 10,000 miles on it. It is a Leased Prius. I lease all my Cars. This car comes off Lease in January 2016.

I Believe I answered your question in my othernposts. Please Search for them under BaylorBob. I didn't realize they were numbered until after I posted the 1st or 2nd. I think mine start around #35 on this Thread. First post was Yesterday, October 8, 2015. Thanks
