OK I looked the Transportation Assistance for a 2010 Prius same thing. If they can't fix in one day they give you a rental car. See photo.

My 2010 Prius has 74K miles on it and it stopped running yesterday with Check Hybrid System warning lights flashing so I had towed to the dealers today. I've got an extended warranty with a year to go on it. Question: the warranty mentions "Power train" problems, Will it cover CPU/computer problems if that winds up being my problem? Thanks!

At 74k, it probably is a failed inverter, which is covered under an extended warranty.

Or it could be as simple as a dead battery

The inverter is part of the hybrid system. It is covered for 8 years/100K.

Source: What hybrid warranty coverage do I have on my Toyota?

Concerning coverage by the extended warranty. You will need to read the warranty and see exactly what is and what is not covered. See your dealer for more details.

In order to properly diagnose the vehicle, the dealer should pull the codes on it. Once the codes are pulled, then they should have an idea of what is wrong.

If you can get the codes, post them back here and someone will help you further.

Thanks, I'll find out today and post any details. The AAA tow driver actually put his charger box on the battery and nothing much happened, so no telling until the dealer runs a diagnostic. My fingers are crossed :)

Update: The "Intelligence Module" needs to be replaced. Good news it's covered by warranty. Phew!

Nothing sounds better than those words....."blah blah blah is wrong with the car and it's expensive"....but it's covered under warranty

Today driving to the dentist, I got:

    Traction control symbol
    Check Hybrid System
    ABS light
    Brake symbol with exclamation mark
    Yellow triangle with exclamation mark

    image.jpeg

Also, brakes felt weird, like they were in fail-safe mode

After shut down and restart, the following still showing:

    Check Hybrid System
Brake symbol with exclamation mark *
    Yellow triangle with exclamation mark

    image.jpeg

    Brakes felt normal.

    * That one is just parking brake on warning, I think.

After my dentist visit, the second batch persisted, so I took 'round to our dealership. They did tests, dismissed codes, said they'll be talking to Toyota. It's a little hard to tell from our invoices, but I think in the course of the brake recall they replaced the master cylinder. Discussed with them: maybe the master cylinder they put in is acting up? Will see what happens.

BTW, this is third time 'round, going in with these warning lights. I think, starting to lose count.

It's possessed, I tell ya! Gen 4 time?... Gen 2 PiP has got my interest piqued. Anyway, watching anxiously again. And paranoid every time I hit the power button in my '10.

If nothing else, I'm impressed with the mpg you get with you 17" wheels, 230 miles with half a tank.........

3rd time around.....that should qualify for the lemon law

Sounds like "Check Hybrid System" could be a growing problem. When I was told that the "Intelligence Module" needs to be replaced that that it's covered under warranty I should have asked if it's the extended one I bought. But it must be b/c I've had the car 5 years. I wish Mendel luck with his!
