1 mile is 1.609 km. 1 US gallon is 3.78541 litres.
This means that if the new Prius returns 35 km/l as one photo suggests, that works out to be

    (35/1.609) x 3.78541 = 82.343 mpg

That is, 35/1.609 to get miles per litre then multiply by 3.78541 to get mpg.

    As spwolf said
But the point of my post was to do the math and to come up with a single number for the folks that say: "I don't know what litres are"

So, according to what I have above, if you transponse, let A be the km/l value and M be the mpg that we want to find, then the equation above becomes:
    M = (A/1.609) x 3.78541
Transposing the multiplication, we get :
    M = A x (3.78541/1.609) = A x 2.3526

So if ever are given a number for km/l (that is kilometres per litre), just multiply by 2.35 to get an approximate MPG figure.

Yes. The focus is not just mpg this time around. Lots of other things are improved too.

That white/black interior looks interesting but will it last?

How are folks with the Misty Grey SofTex doing with their upholstery material. Is it holding up well? Are colours (mostly denim) rubbing off to the material?

    Thanks Ken.
Suppose E grade stands for ECO and it is the only grade without a spare wheel?

More sporty with less system power!

    That's a surprise !
I would have thought the Li-ion battery would power the AWD and not the Ni-MH .
So if we choose AWD then we lose quite a bit of cargo space but on the other hand get a flat cargo floor !?
Ken,can you try to find out if it is still possible to show nav information via HUD on the windscreen ?
I would really hate loosing that feature !
There are some rumors in Germany going on,and as I am saying rumors so don't get too exited about it,that the new nav works together with the cars HSD so it knows when the vehicle is about to climb a hill and can stop unnecessary charging of the battery during the process, so if that's true then it should be still possible to also show nav instruction on the windscreen.

Both battery options are under the rear seat as I understand. The cargo floor level is connected to whether the trim has a spare wheel or not?

Yeah well, it looks like to 0-60 time would be the same as Gen 3 due to lower weight.

Weight needs to be considered. Of the newly returned Pony cars, the Mustang had less power than the Camaro and Challenger, but had a better power to weight ratio by being lighter.
Do with have capacity figures for the two batteries. With their NiMH costs, Toyota likely went with them on the AWD to reduce the total option cost lower.

The Li-ion goes under the rear seat. We don't have any info about the NiMH. In the show cars, having a spare or not had no impact on the rear floor and cargo space.

Yes, and this is obvious. But I assume there is much more into it to allow power refuction together with 'fun to drive' promise.
More to come, just be prepared(y)

Who knows non of these figures could turn out to be true !
Nowadays with Photoshop nothing is impossible to fake .
I find it hard to believe they decreased everything in comparison with the current power train yet claiming it will have more even more power output than the outgoing model .
The torque hasn't changed so the new engine can't be turbocharged so I was told .
Toyota said it will be more fun to drive,so I believe the same 0-60 time as the current prius wouldn't really be an argument for that and would be somewhat disappointing!

More fun to drive...a Prius? Maybe they just improved the suspension a little?

    No way !
There is more to it than just improving the rear suspension this time !

The instant torque of the motor can make up for a slower 0 to 60, and besides, it takes more than straight speed to make a car fun to drive.

Yes I know and I can assure you that I am not one of those People who say that the Prius is slow, but I'd love to see the Prius get way more powerful to shut up the critics once and for all,but by the look of things I don't see this happening.
If the figures are right, and Ken actually read the manual in person (didn't see that at first ) then Toyota downsized every single power output of the existing drive train,so I don't see how Toyota is going to make that vehicle more powerful then the predecessor! ?

EGR on the 3rd gen has been clog prone, judging by reports here. So, if you've come up with a half-baked design, and then fix it (hopefully), it's a new-and-improved feature?
