got the VCI through Amazon and loaded the software onto my windows 7 computer, download went Ok but when I load the program it asks me for a dealer number etc so I can't get past this screen since I'm just an individual and not a dealer? So how does an individual use this piece of equipment and software?

A: The software probably didn't get installed right, you need to follow the instructions on the disk. Well, I took the car to a local Advance Auto and they read the code for me and it was PA080 indicated HV battery bad! So back home and removed the cover on the big battery and the bus bars on the rear of the battery. Checked the modules and found # 7 was only 6.58 volts! So I removed the battery again and set it on the bench so I could replace the bad module. I had 2 modules that I had purchased off Ebay several months ago so used one of them to replace the bad one. All of the rest of the modules tested right around 7.83 volts. I just got it back together and "no more RED TRIANGLE!!! Funny thing is though that I put the bad module on the charger and it went up to 8 Volts very quickly so I don't understand why this is? Anyway the Prius is back to normal,,,I hope!
Inside every module there are 6 cells. Fully charged cell is about 1.4V and empty cell is about 1.1V. Cells in your other modules are (on average) 7.83V/6=1.305V. One cell in your broken module is probably completely empty (basically broken) and has 0V others have about 6.58V/5=1.316V. When you put the bad module to charger broken cell charges to 1.4V almost immediately because it has no capacity. Then voltage is 1.316V*5+1.4V=7.98V or about 8V. Hopefully that module you put into the pack (and all the other modules) have similar capacity, internal resistance, and state of charge. Other vice you will get that fault back.
