    I wouldn't think radical. The Kamm hatch shape has been around for a long time. Kammback - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    I would think the best shape to combine space efficiency and fuel efficiency.

    I'm hoping that when I see it live, I will see the Gen 4 as a really nice version of the same with perhaps a bit too much face paint.

    They're separate cars. The suspended car is probably a shell (so it's lighter to lift). I took a photo of the suspended car at the end of the night, still suspended.

    Consider putting the sunshade in between the front seat and the centre console? That's where I have my foldable sunshade (Not the heatshield - that goes in the trunk).

    Then you have a problem. The Gen 2 has one of the most number of storage boxes and total storage volume of any car. Most cars have one glovebox and one centre console. They may or may not have a coin tray, may or may not have a small tray for phone/USB/Aux Jack, and of course they'll have front door pockets. The Gen 2 adds a shelf to the lower glovebox, an upper glovebox with removeable shelf, a covered storage bin below the radio and the hidden drawer.

    That's the point. If my Gen 2 isn't even enough, why is the Gen 4 going backwards?

    The normal is the Gen 4. The Gen 2 was just exceptional. You can't take the outlier as the benchmark (although I do agree, more cars should be more efficient with storage space and offer more cubby holes). However, there's a certain design element that the designer wanted to achieve and there are also engineering constraints. My guess is the low 4G dashboard meant less space to stuff wires and other things which negate the inclusion of an upper glovebox. The 3G RAV4 had dual gloveboxes that were removed for 4G. The 11G Corolla also lost the upper glovebox from the 10G.

    It seems to me that when comparing cars, everyone's benchmarks are different and are chosen based on their experience, needs and wants.

    People who are thinking about changing from a car they have liked, are likely use it as a benchmark when assessing the pluses and minuses of different options.

    I have seen interior organizer trays and the like at auto parts stores and Toyota parts showrooms likely have them too. Perhaps these things can be put to use for better storage in the car. Takes change to adapt to something new, but it's very doable.

    Thanks. By the time I checked out the circular screen, they must have already carted off the model.

    Of course, you still proved there was a driveable car, which was kind of my point - the sheetmetal is pretty much fixed by now (some people probably know how much earlier it was fixed...)

    Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if they go sealed gelcell or not. Since they had disabled the hood release on all 3 cars, we had no way to check it out.

    I would think too that Toyota wants to squeeze as much profit out of the car they can. Any extra parts cost money and assembly steps. So getting rid of the top glovebox and any other cubby holes that had a door would cut costs.

    If I wanted normal, I could have bought a gen 1, a Corolla, a Civic or some other ordinary car. I bought by Gen 2 because it was exceptional.

    Actually, that Honda interior looks very ordinary to me a bit dated too. Prius Gen3 interior is much better, just wish they used better material that's all.

    The seat heater buttons look like they may be a stretch like the gen 3 but maybe less of a stretch. That's one thing that myfe complains about in our 2010.

    Late 80s preludes were pretty close to perfection. Glad Honda ditched the recent Scifi/anime crap that toyota so seems to love.

    Kinda funny (sad) when humdrum economy cars from one company have as big/bigger touch screens that the putative technology flagship from another company. Gen 2 prius was a huge leap. Gen 4 prius isn't even keeping up.
