This was at the gas station. I was able to fill with 10.4 gallons. Could have come close to 600 miles!

You can post again if you reach 1000 miles, or it's a non story

And why is that? I had 1.5 gallons remaining in the tank.

You'll never be satisfied, it'll be 600, then 650, hehe.

I'm at the other end of the spectrum: if the gauge is anywhere below half, if I see my favourite brand, I'm tanking up. Helps that we're low consumers, this is every 3~4 weeks.

True, but likely only about 1 gal usable remaining. When the last pip goes out you want to be close to a station.
If you wanna hit 600mi for a tank you need to see the indicated average close to 56-57. Good luck with that. ;)

I NEVER recommend that anyone PUSH the envelope as far as running the gas low on a Prius, or any vehicle for that matter.

But I would say, that a Good/Bad thing about Prius ownership is filling up and realizing you really COULD of gone a whole lot further.

At least with MY Prius I find the gauge, the warnings, all to be very conservative.

Which probably IS a good thing.

Because as much "fun" as it might be to go as far as possible on a tank? Running out of gas is both potentially damaging and dangerous.
So I try to take some enjoyment out of appreciating how far I have driven, and the fact that I had more left in the tank than I thought.

I'd rather fill up a little early, than fill up a little late. Gas cans and long walks aren't fun. Losing power while driving is dangerous.

My main motivation for filling sooner: I'm logging fuel consumption tank by tank. Low tank increases odds someone else'll fill up, and that's when bad things happen. I can always salvage things, but I'd druther not have to.

This reminds me of a post a while back...(with lots of people jumping in about things not relevant)... All I said was "I could have come close" to 600 miles.

Thanks to many of the posters who have once again reminded me what a wonderful place this is.
