Well I guess you are out. Gen 4 is 0.8" lower.

"Engineered from the ground up, the new Prius is 2.4 inches longer, 0.6 inches wider and 0.8 inches lower than the model it replaces, providing a planted on-road presence while delivering more occupant and cargo room."

added to the long list, "lame". I can't believe they actually spent cash for that bogus live stream and news PR, jeez. If the new Prius is anything like that stupid show, it's gonna bomb too.

Except that a sleeker looking car comes out which they pointed out. If a more bland looking car came out and they profusely expounded upon the many engineering details for 3 hours (starting at midnight EDT) ...... and for years the masses say, eww, look at the more bland looking Prius that drives like a virtual reality machine on wheels, and sales are tethered to gas prices .... welll, that would blow.

But, yes, it was awfully short for those who stayed up late to see

Hmm, .exterior..short of the front is interesting, the space ship downward sharp angles of the running lights and those headlights.....and I absolutely not fond of the rear LEDs..Too much borrowed from the Murai and the interior...same Murai minimum center focus..feels like my Gen 3 is an upgrade with all the information in front of my steering wheel, which I prefer..not looking off the road for vital information...I'm curious what us modders will do to it....

First, the Mirai. Now this. What a 2015 Toyota is having. The only good news so far is the eco trim (how much of a markup?) with the greater than 10% improvement in mpg.

There's a HUD. One of the cars had it.

Uncertain on ambient lighting because there were bright spot lights everywhere but there's a small indent on one of my pics that appears to be a small LED.

That doesn't mean the ground clearance is lower. It probably is but we don't know for sure.

Interior lighting (map lights for example) were incandescent from what I remember seeing so I don't think there will be any type of led ambient interior lighting.

I did see auto headlights for auto dimming highbeams when an oncoming vehicle is detected.

What a waste of time watching this video !

At least we have data from other sources. 55 MPG then.

Anyone else get an "Airplane" movie vibe when the announcer said his name was Ted Striker? Seriously, I'd buy this car for its merits, not its looks. Suggestions it would dispel Gen 2 weirdness will only extend to the interior. Outside, this car is seriously weird, beyond where Prius has gone before. Yes, we'll get used to it but for now, it's a bit jarring to behold. Pillaging the new Mirai HFC vehicle lines for avant-garde-ness is obviously what Toyota was going for; they wanted a strikingly different Prius so now they have one. Problem may be, for many in here, it may be too much of a leap in differentiation; I've already heard a few rumblings in here along those lines. For me, it's not as aesthetically pleasing as the Prius v, which is likely what I'll be shopping next time, given my main issue with my current Liftback is lack of cargo space. Still, the promised upscale interior, new tech and higher MPG are compelling sales points. I just need to squint and try to adjust to the new look.

They postponed this model as they wanted to improve it more? Postpone it some more......

The rear quarter visibility looks nonexistent.

One thing I'd like to say, about the automotive industry as a whole NOT just Toyota or this Prius, but one of the ONLY bit's of information we were given was that this Prius is lower, wider and longer.

As a fan of "smaller vehicles" why do automotive companies always equate larger with better?

I liked the Original Asian Market created Scion XB, the small box. Toyota in a scant few years, bloated it to a Honda Elementish looking, much, much bigger vehicle.

And it seems like that's always the equation. Every incarnation is "better" and better always means bigger.

Admittedly, maybe I'm not the norm, as I do like smaller vehicles, but this constant creeping towards larger and bigger?

Mazda is coming out with a new MX-5 for 2016, and in a refreshing move, they actually admit to the vehicle being smaller than the previous incarnation. But I suppose they feel they can admit this when releasing a 2 seater convertible roadster, as nobody is probably purchasing it expecting great size.

But I for one would like to see a reverse in the trend of "improving" vehicles by making each generation LARGER than the last.

So true. My 1978 Honda Accord Hatchback or 1986 Civic Hatchback were diminutive compared to today's bloated jelly culture product range. Even the 2005 CR-V is much smaller than the present offering, though the new HR-V may be about the same size though likely hundreds of pounds heavier.

And of course the '68 2000 Roadster was smaller and lighter than the 240Z coupe (or any of the Hondas) and what is now the behemoth 370Z or whatever it is called.

fortunately, car makers keep coming out with new small models. but you really can't argue with a larger car that gets better gas mileage.

as well as added safety features. How did we survive the days prior to seat belts, ABS, air bags, etc?

We watched Garage Squad last night and they redid a '63 Impala. It's so weird when they take a test drive and there are not even seat belts, much less shoulder harnesses. It's even worse when it's an older convertible. Haven't ridden in a car without belts since an accident in a '65 Impala.

Still looks like a Prius to me, only 10% weirder. Now if it hauls dimensional lumber I'm in.
