Good catch! (y) And that is what makes the Prius design, of any generation, difficult to compare.

I'm not sure which non-Prius the G4 looks most like, but it seems to have a resemblance to the Hyundai Accent.

I think basically all trucks and SUVs are uglier than 95% of all cars. I think this car's look is above average just because it's unique rather than looking just like everything else.

But then, I don't buy cars based on looks. It's a device to get me and my stuff from A to B, and a gorgeous but useless 65 Vette split window can't do that.

When I want to see pretty, I go to a car show. Not a new car show, a real car show. I used to have a show car, but at least mine was useful in that it was a 6-seater that could tow a trailer.

Nothing, the Prius design is truly unique whether Gen III or Gen IV. This uniqueness is what drew me to the Prius (including it's superior fuel economy) even though there are a Brazilian (George W. speak) other Prii on the road here in SoCal......and that is why we modify our cars to make them "go before" and "stand apart."

For me, the Prius is all about practicality - the flexibility to haul people, cargo, tall or long cargo, and to have a long range while also being comfortable, efficient, and technologically fun to drive.

I pre-ordered my '04 and I doubt I gave its looks a second thought. Or a first for that matter. Best car I've ever owned, rented or borrowed - by far.

I still enjoy pulling up to a gas station where some people are already filling up, pulling out my credit card, starting the filling process, finishing , paying, gathering my receipt and leaving while the others are still standing there! And that's having consumed 300-400 miles of range, on average. Having a bill under $20 is pretty nice too.

If you like aero looks, Prius is pretty nice looking. I've always favored sleek looking cars. Never liked the cube on wheels look very much. For cargo, there's nothing better than a box, but for an all round car that can operate at high levels of economy, great aerodynamics are needed. At highway speeds, the power that we use moving air out of the way is a fuel user. The easier a car makes that hole in the air, the better MPG you're gonna get. Prius is pretty efficient making that hole.

My Prius may not be the best looking car out there, but it's definitely one of the most efficient. That's beauty enough for me.

GenIV hopefully will be good looking in the flesh. Like someone said before... hopefully those tail lights look totally different in person. I'm really hoping we are just seeing the result of camera lens distortion.

Styling is mostly subjective, not everyone will have the same opinion. I am not a fan of the Cube either, although I would argue that it isn't as radical or unusual as this new Prius. Styling isn't hugely important in a new car purchase, especially since I find most modern vehicles are generally bland and boring. However, I would have a hard time laying down my money for something that I think is repulsive.

I was hoping for something along the lines of the Tesla too. It's aerodynamic, attractive and space efficient.

If anything, Toyota would be distancing themselves from being mistaken for mimicking a Tesla design based on their outright aversion to EVs.

I wasn't saying a copy or mimic, I just meant something like Tesla that is sleek, modern, aerodynamic and good looking. I think Toyota would see much more market penetration if the new Prius had more conventional (but still stylish and modern) styling.

But how big you would have to make the Prius? The Model S has the same 94 cu ft of passenger volume of the Prius Liftback.
The Corolla has 98 cu ft of passenger volume
